Shark vs Dyson

Hello wise mumsnetters!

I need a new stick hoover. Which one would you recommend? I've had 2 dyson vacuums so far. The husband killed my V8 not long ago. So do I stick to a Dyson or change over to a shark? If so which one? I have pets and feral children.

Thanks in advance!

I'd never buy another Dyson. A because the suction deteriorates quite quickly. And B because I can't stand James Dyson, that Brexit-supporting hypocrite who moved all manufacturing to Asia.

I had a Shark before and it was much better than the Dyson Animal. I now have a Hetty and it's better than both. Fantastic suck action. There's a bigger version called Henry that builders apparently swear by.

Also the customer service with shark is great.

We ran through several Dysons until they got too heavy for me to lift. Each of them conked out shortly after the warranty ran out.

We tried Vax for a few years (which were equally prone to conking out, but at least lightweight) and have hit the jackpot with a Shark corded lift-away. It's astounding. The carpets are cleaner than ever and the headlights make under things easy. I took it to DM's house and it pulled up so much cat hair we were all a bit queasy; and it's light enough that she can move it around with arthritic hands. She's saving up for one!

Shark every time from here on.

"We got the Dyson V11 Absolute a couple of weeks ago, after reading online reviews. It's fantastic. Our cleaner says it's the best vacuum she's used, so I'm going with that as an excellent recommendation"

TenaciousP - same here, I have the Dyson V11.

Its worth pointing out that the Dyson V11 was not launched until 27 March 2019 (just shy of a 12 months ago), so the Shark protagonists on this thread who claim that in their experience the Shark is better than the Dyson that they have switched from, must be comparing the Shark with older Dyson models, since it stands to reason that they haven't got the Dyson V11 and replaced it with a Shark (unless they replaced a brand new Dyson which was less than a year old)

As I said up thread - an Independent panel of experts for Which? tested and reviewed all recent cordless models and the new Dyson V11 was the outright winner.

I'm debating trading in hetty for a shark corded stick one - my back is in pieces after lugging hetty around.
