Is there anything between the different brands of tupperware?

My current collection of food containers (used for keeping leftovers in the fridge or taking bits to work for lunch) is a mish mash of different brands, years old. Some of the containers are stained, don't close properly, leak if tipped etc etc.

Was thinking of replacing the whole lot with one brand in all different sizes but with which brand?

In my Morrisons they sell :

  • their own brand which is v colourful,
  • Lock & Lock containers
  • the Seal and Store ones with the purple lids.

Anyone know if these brands or any other brand of food container is particularly good, or are they all much of a muchness?

Thanks

If I was buying from scratch I'd buy glass containers with silicone or clip on lids as plastic ones degrade over time and release carcinogens. But then again I reuse takeaway containers!!

Lock and lock are the most reliable ones I’ve had- they don’t leak ever. I’ve had some of mine for a good 5 years and it’s still going strong. Glass is not very practical if you are going on hikes etc- it’s too heavy. Good for leftovers though.

Strictly speaking Tupperware IS a brand.....
But apart from that Lock and Lock and Sistema are good. But so is reusing glass jars, biscuit- and sweet tins.

Yep Tupperware is a brand and I have had some of it for thirty years. Seals still good.

I use Sistema and Whitefurze.

I spent ages trying to find containers that didn't leak in my bag when I took lunch to work. I tried everything and Whitefurze were the only ones that didn't leak.

I use sistema, find it the best and it doesn't leak. I just bought mine off of Amazon.

Oh and another thing that I love (I have a weird obsession with food containers/storage) is a Lock & Lock Kitchen Caddy with FlipTop Lid. I have one for dishwasher tablets and one for washing powder. They're so good!

They have a lid that flips open at the front where you can easily access tablets or powder. I want one for flour and dishwasher salt but have to restrain myself or the house would be full of them.

I’m a lock and lock fan too. It’s the best brand for taking salads to work without dressing leaking everywhere.

I love a flip top lid 12345kbm. I have got two for washing powder and dishwasher salt but you are right, there are so many other things that could be stored in them. Think I’ll take a look!

Sistema

12345kbm · 17/02/2020 23:08

@nettie434 Good to meet another fan.

So, so many uses. Dried goods such as lentils, flour, pet food, cat litter, tea bags...possibilities are endless. They're water tight as well.

Huge fan and am now tempted to buy more! But I must resist.

Can you still buy Tupperware? I've got some that's over 30 years old and it refuses to die.

12345kbm · 17/02/2020 23:12

Do you remember Tupperware parties?

AmelieTaylor · 17/02/2020 23:18

Nothing beats Tupperware & avoid cheap ones...

I Prefer sistema . I find the lock ones can warp and over time become difficult to clip closed. I like the variety of sizes and styles with Sistema too

Icecreamdiva · 19/02/2020 15:46

I’ve used Lock and Lock for over 15 years. I’ve never had one fail or leak or warp. Amongst their many other uses I batch cook and freeze individual meal portions in them that then get transported to our elderly parent’s homes for reheating in the microwave. DC and DH also transport packed lunches in them.

The only reasons I ever have to buy more are because I keep finding new uses for them and because an awful lot of them never seem to to make it home from the aged parents homes.
