Burnt on food on oven glass

Hi,

Through years of basic surviving small children our oven now looks like this.

What would be best to shift it?

I tried Koh and the diamond black scrub thing which worked but did scour the glass a little.

Pink stuff did nothing.

It's got Koh soaking on now in pic as the new grease comes of well, it's the burnt on brown stuff that doesn't!

A dishwasher tablet , moistened and used as a little scourer with elbow grease. It doesn't scratch the glass and brings it up a treat.

I do mine once a month now after the initial big clean of them. They always look sparkling.

I agree the lakeland oven cleaner is really good , paint on , leave for a bit wipe off , no scrubbing needed .
It also has no smell unlike most oven cleaners .

i've recommended the paint scraper on here before now....I had a 25 year old range that was effectively on for all that time....bar one single day per year for a service!

it was almost impossible to use any sprays as it was always warm so I'd have at it with a simple paintscraper....as suggested about, the one with the razor blade edge...get one with a decent handle cos you are going to want to give it some heave ho, but it definitely works the best.

Thanks all, the black scourer thing I have from Koh works with a lot of effort but leaves faint scarrtches. Might try the Lakeland gel or just get a new glass.

It's been burnt on for years Blush.

Get a company in to do it for you - I paid sixty for a double oven and they were like new.

userxx · 09/02/2020 20:18

Can any dishwasher tablet be used?

ChicCroissant · 09/02/2020 20:20

Hob scraper will remove that kind of stuff in mere minutes, honestly. Give it a go, I got mine from Lakeland.

HappyPunky · 09/02/2020 20:22

I have some brushes from amazon that attach to an electric screw driver and use them with bicarb and vinegar.

mineofuselessinformation · 09/02/2020 20:22

Hob Brite. Shake it well before you use it. You will still need a fair amount of elbow grease, and might get through more than one scourer. (I use the sponge ones with green on one side.)
Another handy tip is to put the shelves in the dishwasher, take them out while the cycle is still going and they're hot, and go at them with a scourer - it'll shift the lot!

Scraper

Nomorewineever · 09/02/2020 20:25

Yes any dishwasher tablet. Wet it and crush it a bit inside a damp cloth. Use the cloth like a mitt and rub the crumbled tablet all over the glass.
Brings it up like new. I learnt about it on here and it’s one of the best tricks I’ve learnt.

ChicCroissant · 09/02/2020 20:46

Does the dishwasher tablet trick work on the inside of the oven as well ? Mine needs a good clean, I am so tempted to head to the nearest Lakeland but must check if that cleaner is suitable for my oven first!

CadburyFlake · 09/02/2020 21:19

Lakeland stuff

Excellent stuff. My oven window was totally obscured by gunk. This stuff shifted it, no fumes.

Was messy but that was mostly the melted gunk coming away.

I can see my Yorkshires rising now Smile

PiafPilaf · 16/02/2020 23:41

Oven Pride - it’s wonderful stuff! It says not to use on the glass but I’ve never had a problem.... also gets all the shelves ridiculously clean with no effort whatsoever. Just don’t get it on the seals.

@Cynderella

Love your post Grin

That's just what our oven door looked like this morning, but I cleaned it with Oven Pride and now it's completely clear again, like magic! Our oven door is two layers of glass so I was able to remove/slide out the really manky one and stick it in the oven pride bag with the racks. After soaking and then a little bit of scrubbing they have come out like new, gunk free. So impressed. However the Ovenpride didnt work so well on the stuck on gunk on the bottom of the oven. Have had to also use bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar and a lot of elbow grease for the main bit of the oven.

Allthecandles · 21/04/2020 01:09

Pink stuff? Is that ok for glass?

earsup · 21/04/2020 01:13

Just use oven cleaning spray..I do...clean in 20 mins....so easy
