Washer dryer recommendations!

I've just stopped my Ikea washing machine mid-cycle as it's making an alarming noise when spinning. I've had it 8 years and it was their cheapest so I'm in the market for a new one, but would like a washer dryer to cut down on clothes drying on rails in my tiny damp house. It needs to be integrated. So, what's good?! Quiet is a bonus as we're open plan. I do a load a day minimum. A countdown timer would be ace, especially an accurate one! Thanks.

I've not had one myself, but 2 friends that have (they were in their houses when they moved in) got rid pretty quickly as they found them useless.
I've often seen that reported on MN too.
I understand the issue is that the dryer can only dry 1/2 or less of the clothes it can wash, so you have to go to it at the end of the wash, take out half (or more of the load) then let it dry, then let the next lot dry afterwards, but, in the meantime, you aren't able to be doing a second wash.

As I say, this is anecdotal and others may come and disagree, but I'll have lifted you off 'unanswered threads'.

My only advice is don't get one. It ruins your clothes. Prone to going wrong. It's much easier to go to the launderette with the drying in winter.

I’ve always had washer dryers. Never had a problem. But then I only dry smalls, pjs, light stuff in there. The rest gets Hun on an airer in a spare bedroom in winter or outside in summer. I have a zanussi at the moment.

Sadly no launderette anywhere near me... I'm OK with it only drying half the amount. Currently I dry it all on a heated airer which takes a long time as it's crammed full so if I can cut down on that by 50% it'll dry faster and put less moisture into the already damp room. Jeans and jumpers I'd put on the heated airer or line still and use the dryer for t-shirts, underwear etc. How does it ruin your clothes? I used to have a normal tumble dryer which was great but it caught fire! Is Beko a good make?

So just as I was about to purchase i had a go at fixing my old one and it worked! Hurray. I think it was just the pump that was blocked Blush (by a load of stickers that DS must have decorated an inside out jumper with)

Not a washer/dryer recommendation but a dehumidifier is great at helping to dry clothes
