My washing machine keeps leaving these grimey , greasy marks on my clean washing ( pic included ) .

I live in a hard water area and use a washing machine cleaner ( pic included) every month .

Is there a better way to rid my machine if these marks ?

My go-to cleaner is a spray made from 50/50 hot vinegar and washing up liquid. For mould, I would add a tablespoon of soda crystals dissolved in boiling water. But mould is really difficult to get rid of and you might need a specialist spray.

I don't use a cleaner, but I do use soda crystals in every wash. I use home made soap powder, but do keep some Ariel for anything really dirty and disgusting and always add a scoop of soda crystals.

Finally, every couple of weeks, I wash our white towels on a 95 degree wash with a scoop of washing powder and a scoop of soda crystals. All based on advice from an engineer years ago who recommended regular boil washes and soda crystals over Calgon and washing machine cleaners.

I think this means your washing machine bearings are wearing out. They're literally wearing away, and the greasy metal smudges wash into the washing and stick to your clothes. New bearings need fitting, or a new washing machine. I've never found a way to stop the marks appearing without replacing the bearings.

Oh no, that sounds worse than mould.

Thanks for the replies , I'm going to give the white vinegar and soda crystals a go , I'm at the supermarket now .

If no joy I will have to call the engineer out . The machines less than 2 years old .. I'd be very surprised if it is that as I bought the same machine as my neighbour ,after he spent hours researching the ins and out of it ... it would have been rude to let all his research go to waste !

try the super hot wash on an empty machine, and check between the folds of the rubber seal for muck.

if the bearings have gone, almost all machines are now designed to make them extremely expensive to replace. A new machine will be cheaper. Environmental disaster.
