Has anyone found one that works and lasts more than a week? Also preferably not one that colours the water because that just feels like it hides the dirt.

No they work really well at keeping the bowl clean. They're meant to dissolve gradually over a few weeks but in reality its a few days.

These last about a month and do the job IME.

justthecat · 25/01/2020 15:23

Mine last a few days but I’m really sad and like the coloured water, especially pink and purple ! Even the big bloo loo that supposed to last longer doesn’t that much

Poppinjay · 25/01/2020 15:26

Thanks @hiredandsqueak. I used these recently and they had disappeared within a few days. When I looked at Amazon reviews, they all seem to do the same.

We have hard water. I wonder if that makes a difference?

unnecessary pollution. don't use, just do some cleaning occasionally.

Poppinjay · 25/01/2020 19:07

just do some cleaning occasionally

Oh wow! Thanks. I never thought of that! Hmm

Pooopinjay - a lot politer than I was going to reply but I was busy looking for lemon juice and bicarbonate. Not.
😇

I got told not to use them by a plumber as they are bad for something inside the cistern or something. A seal perhaps, I can’t remember. I just stopped using immediately!

Interesting. Thanks Smile

I was told the same thing by a plumber so I stopped using them

Elieza · 26/01/2020 16:27

There are some you tube vids about it apparently!

Yesterdayforgotten · 26/01/2020 16:30

I love those blocks...so handy esp when time constraints and young dcBlush

Does anybody know the they are bad for the plumbing in comparison to say duck you stick in the bowl?

mencken · 26/01/2020 16:48

as always, those with kids give the least fucks about the environment. You do not need pretty water in the toilet. Nor do you need to make sillycow remarks about cleaning. It isn't that hard.

Yesterdayforgotten · 26/01/2020 16:53

mencken bitter much? Hmm

Poppinjay · 26/01/2020 16:57

??

@mencken, you're making no sense. I am asking about cistern blocks that keep the bowl clean, not paint and glitter Confused

Yesterdayforgotten · 26/01/2020 17:01

Haha maybe @mencken had an unfortunate incident involving her loo with a toddler and some permanent paint...

Poppinjay · 26/01/2020 17:29

@Yesterdayforgotten, who knows? She (or he) is very rude.

In the absence of any alternative recommendations, I've ordered some more of the Parazone blocks and I'll just add new ones more often. If it makes the seal break down at some point, I'll just get it replaced.

I'll also keep an eye out for any sensible advice about the environmental impact of using them.

Thanks all Smile

I get mine from aldi. 3 in a pack white ones. The packet claims they last up to 4 weeks. I don't think they last that long but at least they're cheap and they definitely clean well.

Yesterdayforgotten · 26/01/2020 17:47

Aldi is good suggestion, think i got mine from lidles but have to admit they don't last long so I'm keen to try alternatives too.

I'll take my chances with the seal too Smile

I'll get some of those too and do a comparison. Thanks Smile
