Washing machine F-05 fault but not straightforward!

Hello, any washing machine experts out there? We have a roughly 5 year old Indesit washing machine that has started to stop mid cycle and flash up an F - 05 fault. We checked the manual and googled it and it seems to be a pump/drainage problem. Washing machine stops I think at the part of the cycle where the washing bit is done and it goes to drain out the dirty water. It was pulled out and hoses checked, front bit at the bottom removed and the pump checked. A bit of grot and some sticks ( ! ) removed, then I put some machine cleaner on and ran a cycle. Still showing the fault.
It just seems strange, as if I turn the machine off, then back on and select the rinse cycle it will then continue the wash. So it does still physically drain/empty. Makes a funny buzzing noise when nothing is happening if that is relevant!
We have a replacement lined up from a family member so I don’t want to pay someone to come out and fix it, but it does seem a shame to throw it away without trying. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Have you checked to see if your machine is on the recall list?

Mine is and the letter I got the other day mentioned a as "F..." error code. Basically turn it off and don't use it is the advice given as they're are fire risks.

Sorry I should have said I can't remember what the numbers were along with the "F" but just googled and yours seems to be as you say, pump/drainage problem.

This happened to me last week, exact same code and problem. After some research, the most common reason for it is the pressure switch has blown. You can order a new one in Ebay for around £15, then take the lid off the machine, prepare the old switch out and swap it for the new one. YouTube videos are helpful here. DS who has never fixed anything in his life had mine working again within 10 minutes once the part had arrived.

*prise not prepare.

Thanks for the replies. No I haven’t checked if it’s on a recall, but I wouldn’t have thought so as it’s not all that new? I will look though.
DP had it in bits again today, removed a 20p and 1p coin that looked like they might have been the cause of a blockage so we were hopeful. Put a wash on and the same thing happens, when it gets to the drain and rinse part it stops and flashes up F05. Strange thing is, if you run a rinse cycle, then when it stops again a spin and drain cycle, it does eventually empty. Which I would say points to an electrical type problem rather than a blockage or pump failure? I’ll look into the pressure switch thing, cheers!

I don’t know if it’s relevant, but I’m sure it’s more noisy too, like a humming sound?!

Well, we ordered and fitted the new pressure switch and, fingers crossed, all seems ok so far. Normal wash cycle completed without the F05 message. Thank you!! And, if it ends up being something else too at least it only cost us £12 to give the machine a new lease of life.

Ours did this but we gave up and ordered a new machine. Hope you can mend yours!

Looks like I celebrated too soon...it was back to its old tricks today Sad I think it’s some kind of electrical fault as it will actually finish the cycle if you do it in separate stages. But yeah, think I’m going to give up seeing as I have the use of a nearly new one for free!
