Tumble drier recommendations please....

I've recently replaced my old washer drier with just a washing machine so I will need to purchase a stand alone tumble drier.

I do know that I don't want a condenser drier again as it took 2 hours plus to dry a large load of towels.

Does anybody have a heat pump tumble drier? Does this take ages to dry like a condenser drier?

I've seen rave reviews about Miele tumble dryers on here .... does anyone have one? Are they work the hype? ( I didn't take much notice of what was being said at the time but I do remember folk saying they were fab etc )

Old washer/ drier was a Bosch so I'm looking to spend more than the average price if the appliance is worth it.

Any experiences regarding tumble driers good or bad please : )

TIA

Yes - I have a Siemens heat pump condenser. Had an el cheapo White Knight before that. £99 and money off with a coupon in The Sun newspaper! Fit on the front seat of my car! Ah, those were the days!

So went condenser this time around. Have had it ten years now. No problems. A rated and it's self cleans. Empty the water tray onto the garden.

If going again would go Siemens or Miele.

If you don't have a Miele vacuum, then trust me you haven't lived. It's a whole new world!!

How long does your heat pump drier take to dry a full load of towels?

Hi I have a Miele tumble dryer, my first one lasted 12 years and have just brought another one. I love it! It stops when washing is dry, depends on how much you put in it for drying times, but it will tell you how long it will be drying for once you start it. Ours is a condenser one but I have the tube at the back going straight into sink drainage as then it drains automatically instead of having to empty the container!

@Kyriesmum1 thank you for your reply.... can I ask how long your Miele dryer takes to dry a full load of towels ( approximately) ?

I'm put off getting another condenser tumble dryer as my old Bosch washer/dryer took about 2/3 hours to tumble dry a full load of towels

I have always fancied having a gas tumble dryer which are much cheaper to run.

I think the more efficient the rating often the longer the cycle so if you want an A energy rating it probably will be slow. The most important thing for me next time will be a self cleaning condensor as I hate that I have to clean mine every load, it’s such a faff. If it could be plumbed in too that would be amazing. I think Bosch are probably the best for my requirements but sadly won’t be looking for one any time soon.

Hi it's around 2 hours but will depend on how wet they go in, if it have washed with a high spin it can reduce to 1:30 hours. X

Flyingarcher · 25/01/2020 14:51

My Grundig one is good and has a setting on it that you input the minutes so can dry a load in around 1 hour tennish.

I have a very expensive heat pump bisch. It is truly shit and takes over 3 hours to dry anything and still feels a bit damp. So I also have a beko condenser. It's amazing - takes less than 2 hours to bone dry a whole 9kg load. The electrician told me that the most effective tumble dryers, are the least enetgy efficient so my beko is B class and my bosch A+ but shit

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 25/01/2020 15:00

My washing machine is a 12kg LG with a 1600 spin so very efficient. My beko tumble dryer can dry 9kg of towels in slightly under 2 hours. The shit heat pump bisch would take about 4 hours

DramaAlpaca · 25/01/2020 15:02

I have a vented Bosch tumble dryer. It takes about an hour & a half to dry a load of towels. I'm happy with it.

Currently looking at a dryer myself , I have a Hoover condenser, it dries quick and well but is too noisy and doesn’t have reverse action so when drying bedding is a total pain as it just rolls them into a ball .
From all my research I have found that heat pump ones, the latest technology ,is a bit kinder on your electricity meter but it takes longer to dry , so I have decided to go standard condenser again . Currently looking at Miele or Samsung 👍

I 😍 tumble dryer chat. I always have LG washing machines as think they are great and get great reviews on which. I think I would get an LG tumble dryer next

I have a Bosch tumble dryer that’s still going strong at nearly 16 years old. I have had experiences with washer-dryers before and they never seem as effective as separate machines. I also have a Bosch Fridge Freezer the same age. My last washing machine was a Miele, but it kept needing replacement parts (very hard water area) and gave up the ghost after 6 years. The person who kept coming out to repair it recommended a Bosch as parts are cheaper and easier to get hold of., so we’ve now got a Bosch washing machine too (3 years old and no probs so far). Have got a Miele vacuum though!
