and elasticated them all round. Bought a new one today and have just washed it. Nightmare to hang out. Can't imagine how I'm going to fold it

Probably a good fit on the bed though...

LOL I have one of these! They ARE a nightmare to fold too! I end up just rolling it all up and shoving it in the back of the airing cupboard!

moljam · 29/08/2007 15:06

i thought fitted sheets were supposed to be screwed up instead of folded

Send Anthea an email.

hippipotami · 31/08/2007 19:56

Ah, but they do stay on the bed much better, instead of creeping up at the sides

I never fold my fitted sheets - hang them out pegged by the corners (they hang much like a hammock, almost looks inviting) and then I losely fold/roll them and stuff them into the airing cupboard.

The beauty of fitted sheets is that they are stretched over the mattress, so any creases are effectively 'pulled' out. (well that is what I tell myself )

WendyWeber · 31/08/2007 19:58

They are foldable...I will tell you how if you promise not to mock me

ChippyMinton · 31/08/2007 20:23

is that the martha method WW?
Not sure i'd fancy trying it with all-round elastic.

WendyWeber · 31/08/2007 20:25

No, it's the Wendy method afaik

I have sheets elasticated all round and it works with them.

How does the martha method go?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 31/08/2007 20:28

Wendy, I would like to know
I will not mock.

WendyWeber · 31/08/2007 20:36

OK, Kathy - I will try to explain (it would be easier to draw a picture!)

Lay the sheet on a flat surface (eg a made bed) with elastic facing up all round.

Fold it in half, bottom to top.

Turn what were the bottom corners inside out, tuck them inside the top corners, and level the sides by folding inwards.

This should leave you with a long flat oblong which you can fold into a neat parcel.

Does that make sense?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 31/08/2007 20:38

Oh I see, that turning inside out and tucking is clever!

tissy · 31/08/2007 20:43

don't know if my method is the martha method, but...

stand at top of stairwell with sheet over the bannisters, dangling down, your hands should be tucked inside the top two corners, with the elastic facing you

put right corner over left corner onto left hand

now get right bottom corner and put on left hand

then left bottom corner

hold onto elastic bits all together, and give it a good shake, so that the free edges are lined up

now it's easy to fold neatly

hold on, I'll try and find some picks

MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 20:46

et voila - the Martha Method

tissy · 31/08/2007 20:48

well done, mrs b, you got there first

MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 20:52

she is in my Favourites

WendyWeber · 31/08/2007 20:53

Harumph - date on that is 1997 - I've been doing it my way much longer than that! Shall I sue her?
