Drying clothes in my airing cupboard?

I've moved into a house with a boiler and airing cupboard. I want to dry my clothes in there so I spun my clothes 2x on 1400rpm and then I hang them up in there, drape them etc. I have a dehumidifier so if I leave this outside of the airing cupboard and shut the door, will that help? Or does the door have to be left open for it to absorb the moisture coming from the wet clothes? As I said they're not drenched / too wet as I spin them twice to dry it out as much as possible.

I think you'd probably want the dehumidifier in with the clothes or leave the door open. it won't help much if there is a closed door between it and the wet clothes.

I would advise against this. My son shared a flat with a girl who did this. At the end of the year the walls of the airing cupboard were black with mould! Better to dry in a room with dehumidifier first and put in airing cupboard when seemingly dry to finish off.

Did she have the dehumidifier on? I did it last night, left boiler cupboard door open, dehumidifier on near the cupboard. Clothes are now bone dry and dehumidifier tank is completely full so I am hoping that's done the job. It has also dehumidified the bedrooms too.

We dry small items like socks and pants in ours all the time, since there are lots of pipes to hang them on. Have been doing it for years, never had a problem with damp or mould at all, but we have warm air heating, which I think tends to be drier, so don’t know whether that makes a difference.
In any case dehumidifiers are apparently fantastic for drying clothes.

Further to my post. No, they didn’t have a dehumidifier.
