How do I get this sink clean!?!

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any tips please, for getting this sink back to its original cream colour?

DH has a habit of chucking the dregs of his tea down there and not rinsing it away, (despite me constantly nagging reminding him) so the sink has become stained 😔

I'm not 100% on the material, it just feels plastic (enamel?) to be honest, but you can see some little marks where I've used an abrasive sponge to clean it previously and taken a layer off I think. J cloth and elbow grease does nothing.

I'm in desperate need of something that won't ruin the sink but will get rid of the stains; it looks so horrible! Bicarb and vinegar?...
The other side is slightly discoloured but nowhere near as bad as this.

🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Oh, from a google, I think the material is plastic and resin!

Have you tried Cif cream cleaner?

FamilyOfAliens · 27/12/2019 21:43

I hate bleach with a passion but I’d try it as a one-off on that sink.

Feelingpoorlysick · 27/12/2019 21:44

The powder version of barkeepers friend should get it looking cleaner.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 27/12/2019 21:44

Barkeepers friend (check first as it's powerful stuff)

stepka · 27/12/2019 21:45

Sterodent should do it.

AhoyMrBeaver · 27/12/2019 21:45

An abrasive cream cleaner. Astonish does a good one.

Jonb6 · 27/12/2019 21:46

Pour a quarter bottle of neat bleach in with the plug in and fill with cold water. Leave for an hour. Don't use cif cream it will scratch it over rtime. Bleach is fine for the environment it breaks down quickly.

missmouse101 · 27/12/2019 21:54

Cif cream cleaner is the best. It doesn't scratch! It is fabulous stuff.

HerkyBaby · 27/12/2019 21:57

Use washing powder as a paste and leave. It will come up beautifully. Often use this on stubborn pans and stains on chopping boards .

Not true. Chlorine takes forever to break down and is persistent in the environment for years.

Another vote for CIF with the green side of a sponge/scourer

Indecisivelurcher · 27/12/2019 22:12

I would have said bicarb and vinegar! Got to be worth a go first.

Lovelylugs · 27/12/2019 22:12

Leave to soak with hot water and a dishwasher tablet.

ginandgingers92 · 27/12/2019 22:47

Amazing! Thanks all! I'll work through all the suggestions- something has to work! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Try the pink stuff. It's amazing and non abrasive

CatsForLife · 29/12/2019 16:42

Cif cream cleanser. Rub it on and leave for ten mins or so

Villagegreenpreservation · 29/12/2019 19:17

I need to know if it came clean!

missmouse101 · 29/12/2019 19:25

Yes, tell us OP!

ginandgingers92 · 29/12/2019 22:41

Ah sorry! I did a combination of cif and bicarb/vinegar and it's definitely whiter- I think!! I'll send a pic when I'm inside!

I second the pink stuff! Amazing!

Harpic White and Shine is fantastic on things like this. I used it on my sink recently.
