Drying towels in winter

How do you all dry your bath towels in winter? We have no dryer so it's usually a radiator job which I hate doing because it heats upstairs up so much!

Radiator job here. I also wash them less often because I'm a slattern.

Finfintytint · 14/12/2019 10:50

Heated aired and also with the dehumidifier on.

dementedpixie · 14/12/2019 20:08

I hang them on the banister upstairs

toomuchlikemyusername · 14/12/2019 20:12

I'll get them out on the line if it's dry and/or windy, even if only for an hour or so to take some of the wetness out of them. Then it's over an airing frame/hung over a door frame or over the bannister. Then into the airing cupboard.

When the washing machine has finished I but it on again for another 1600 spin. Only wash if at night if I know it’s going to be dry the next day, then still put on the line. Then finish off in the tumble dryer. But the double spin really does help.

TreacleBee · 15/12/2019 00:29

Double spin and then in the DriBuddy air dryer, because I don't have radiators.

I also wash them less often in winter.

MamaWeasel · 15/12/2019 00:30

Hang them over the doors, and radiators

Patchworkquilt24 · 15/12/2019 00:31

Drying wet things on radiators causes damp! Never knew this until I got a load of rising damp and the damp expert that came told me.

undercoveraessedai · 15/12/2019 00:33

I have a (old, but effective) heated airer from Lakeland. It costs something like 3p an hour to run and will dry towels quite quickly - has the added bonus of meaning I rarely need to put my heating on as it keeps upstairs toasty ready for bedtime! I imagine newer ones would be more efficient, mine is nearly 9!

Dehumidifier overnight in bathroom with laundry works great. It takes a bit over 8 hours depending on how many loads are drying at the same time.

Apileofballyhoo · 15/12/2019 00:39

I use smaller towels. Dry them in the hot press/airing cupboard but I've got a walk in one. Also wash them less. And I don't wash all the towels together - wash a couple with more easily dried things so there isn't a lot of heavy laundry to dry.

TreacleBee · 15/12/2019 00:47

Teobeo I hang them on trouser hangers or generally get creative using the bars at the top.

ElGuardiandenoche · 15/12/2019 01:14

On an airer in the dining room with a dehumidifier next to them.

snowybaubles · 15/12/2019 01:16

I put them in the dryer the same as I do the rest of the year

Hazardexhausted · 15/12/2019 01:19

Extra spin, hang on trouser coat hangers in doorways. Now have a dehumidifier which speeds the process up.

raspberryrippleicecream · 15/12/2019 23:34

Dehumidifier here too
