Bullet Journal - couple of questions

Someone suggested on my other thread about getting organised to try a bullet journal. I’ve looked online to read up on this and the results were overwhelming!

I like the idea of having everything in one place but have a couple of questions if anyone can help?

I like to write lists that I can tear out and maybe put in my pocket/bag when I pop out. Could I use a notebook with tear out pages or like spiral bound? Would this still work with an index and numbered pages? Most of the notebooks I’ve seen used looked to be ones that you couldn’t easily tear pages out... I have got a filofax clipbook which has ring binder inside so you can insert & remove things. I love this but not sure if it would work as a bullet journal?

What happens when you fill the notebook? If you’ve made lots of notes that are useful on a certain topic, would you then re-write them all in the next book?

Is it really time saving? Because of ADD I guess my only worry is I won’t remember to look at it!

Thanks for any suggestions.

A very late reply, but this will bump your message and maybe you’ll get more comments.

I have an Atoma notebook that has removable pages, so that might work well.

Are the lists ones that you’ll want to keep? If not, perhaps you could just keep those notes separate from your bullet journal. Or could you write the list in your bullet journal but, rather than ripping out the page, take a photo of the list on your phone to refer to when out and about?

I would also recommend a different notebook with rip out pages - this could be your daily task journal maybe. Each morning/evening use your bullet journal to write your daily tasks in your rip out book then cross them off in main journal at end of the day.

Time saving? Mmmm not really, more a lovely mindful thing to do, and a great place to have your lists and ideas all in one place. They can be as simple or complex as you wish.

I use a bullet journal (without the artistry involved) and have created a section for 'take with me lists' i. e. larger sticky notes.
You can use a ring binder or disc binder if you want to take things out or move them about.

What can save time is it is all in one place, not spread over several. Also if you remember to use the index you can quickly find things - when are those school holidays? It's on page 7 - etc.
I have an A5 book. I often bring it out with me. If I can't I write the list of tasks/shopping onto a piece of paper, OR I take a photo on my phone of the relevant page.
I find one book lasts a year. I had just run out this year mid December and just stuck a few extra pages in with sellotape Smile Last night I went through this year's book and copied over anything of use for this year. But I can always refer back to other books if I need to. I would suggest having a time that you look at it each day, over a cup of coffee or something (ie make it a pleasurable part of your day).

One notebook, carry it everywhere. You index everything so that when it's full you don't need to re write it, just go back to it. Nothing stopping you if you wanted to write out again though. I've been doing it for a few years and it's evolved. I now keep a calendar on the fridge for diary and meal planning, all notes and lists into my journal. I don't follow the morbid anymore

Is "the morbid" a typo or something I should know about?!

mybrainhurtsalot · 29/12/2019 19:41

@Littlemiss74 I stopped using my bullet journal some time ago but am going to go back to it as I did feel more in control and more productive when I was using it.

Haha morbid equals method. Silly phone
