Eco cleaning

I couldn't find a recent thread on this, but apologies if there is one and I've missed it.

Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for any cleaning blogs that are more towards using eco friendly products?

I've been tempted to get some e-cloths but wondered if they really do clean properly with just water? Plus I've read about microfibre issues so not sure how eco friendly they really are?

Am currently cleaning most stuff with some Wilko microfibre cloths and Dettol/CIF/Astonish etc

Any tips/help welcome! I have two young boys so trying to keep on top of stuff is very difficult at the moment, and I don't have much money to spend on a whole load of new products.

Help!

I use white vinegar diluted with drops of essential oil for pretty much everything. A capful of white vinegar in the wash works just as well as fabsoft and is so cheap.

Tough stains and greasy things mix lemon juice and bicarb to make a fizzy paste and leave on then wipe off. Gets rid of most stuff.

Diluted with water and drops of essential oil that should say!

Thank you! Silly question but white vinegar as in just normal clear vinegar from the supermarket?

I've got some Tesco "distilled vinegar" that I was going to use for descaling, it's clear, so assume that's the same thing?

Having real issue with limescale on my sink and draining board.

Be careful with using white vinegar all the time. It can rot rubber seals.

I only use it for towels.

Good to know, thanks

Be careful with white vinegar, it's reacted with something in the trim on my underwear and all my white pants now have shocking pink lace,

MustardScreams · 06/12/2019 14:44

I’ve never had an issue! But only shove a capful in. May have to rethink that though as I don’t want my rubber going to shite.

What does everyone else use for fabsoft?

Maybe I'll just use the vinegar for towels etc.

Have to admit I stopped using fabric conditioner to save money so I don't use anything at the moment.

I have some of that Dettol stuff for washing but only use it occasionally -mainly for when I get my older DS clothes out of the loft for DS2. I actually like the smell!

What does everyone use for cloths? Are eCloths any good or are they just as rubbish for the environment as anything else? Also want to make sure my worktops are antibacterialised/definitely clean.

If you already have cloths that you use, then there's no point swapping them out for other ones.

MustardScreams · 08/12/2019 10:36

I use Scrubbies and coconut husk scouters for pretty much everything.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 11/12/2019 21:51

I don't seem to be getting notifications when people post.

I haven't heard of scrubbies, I'm going to look into that thanks.
