Can I make my own Febreze with essential oils?

Can I make a Febreze type spray for freshening up sofas, rugs etc with essential oils? If so what do I use as the carrier?

Or is it likely to mark or damage the fabrics?

We used to use super cheap vodka as a smell removal spray on costumes, it might work as a carrier. No idea about essential oils though.

don't know about essential oils, but a cap full of softener in a spray bottle with water will do the trick.

Ah, yes, I had a feeling alcohol could be used as a carrier.
I've just got a feeling that oils could be damaging.

Softener just doesn't have the smell that I want I'm afraid, I want to blend a few invigorating oils.

Can't promise it wont mark or stain but you could put some water in a spray bottle, add a few drops of essential oil and shake it before you use it. I'd probably mix the essential oil in a small amount of surgical spirit before adding it to the water.

A few glugs of fabric conditioner (Ecover Apple Blossom here) mixed with water in a spray bottle.

It's safe on all fabrics and it has the added bonus of getting rid of wrinkles and kinks.

Americans have a "de-wrinkling" spray for laundry and the main ingredient is fabric softener

Thank you, I'll give the fabric softener a go I think as I'm not sure about how safe the essential oils would be, I suspect they might leave marks or stains.
