Where do you dry clothes?

We don't have a tumble dryer so have to hang all clothes to dry on clothes horses. I'm so fed up of our dining room always having clothes drying in it. It makes it look cluttered.

So please help, where do you dry your clothes?

Ceiling airer, something like this. It hangs above the stair, where the air rises and there is a good drop for sheets etc.

LIZS · 13/11/2019 21:37

Ceiling airer in utility.

We bought a dehumidifier with a clothes drying function a few years ago. It stays in the cellar and it's bloody brilliant. It was £240 I think so not cheap but it's very cheap to use and we use it a lot in the winter months. It also keeps the house at a decent humidity (which is meant to be good for keeping germs at bay as well, apparently). Would recommend!

SaigonSaigon · 13/11/2019 21:45

Should add, dehumidifier will dry an airer full of clothes overnight

TrickyKid · 13/11/2019 21:47

On an airer in the bathroom. Towels and bedding go in the tumble dryer.

LovemyDDxx · 13/11/2019 22:07

I’ve got a door airer, takes up less room!

Angie6868 · 13/11/2019 22:09

Tumble dryer. I didn't have one for years but wouldn't be without it now. Got fed up with damp clothes everywhere

Riverviews · 13/11/2019 22:10

I live in a flat so they go in the living room with the dehumidifier on overnight

SquigglePigs · 13/11/2019 22:13

On an airer in the conservatory/dining room. We have a heated one so they generally dry overnight.

OhWifey · 13/11/2019 22:15

Corner of the dining room with a dehumidifier on

GetRid · 13/11/2019 22:15

Condenser tumble dryer. Why not get one? You can plug them in anywhere.

I also have 2 clothes horses

CatyaPurella · 13/11/2019 22:15

Lakeland heated airer in the utility. Love it!

GuessWhoColeen · 13/11/2019 22:16

Heated airer in the lounge with a cover.

MidnightMystery · 13/11/2019 22:22

In the living room and I'm fed up of it too!

McCanne · 13/11/2019 22:31

We ended up getting a cheap tumble dryer and putting it in the shed. I was so sick of washing everywhere, especially when it was bedding and towels. But there was nowhere to put it in the house, so it lives in the shed and we have to run an extension out to it. Worth it.

MistressMind · 14/11/2019 00:36

These days, in the utility room, which was useless until we upgraded the radiator but it's now great.

Before that, we did all the washing Thurs - Sat morning and aimed to have it all in the airing cupboard by Sat lunchtime. We did also have a heated airer in our room which tended to stay up, but we tried to keep the living and dining rooms clear Sat - Thurs.

Thanks all. Some good ideas here!

I check the weather forecast and only wash on days when I expect to be able to hang outside. I have a condenser dryer in the understairs cupboard to use if the weather catches me out, which is pretty rare, so it only gets used maybe once a month. I just don't wash on rainy days.

WalkAwaySugarbear · 14/11/2019 08:35

Clothes horse and dehumidifier in our bedroom. It's fine in the bedroom, it's not clogging up the rest of the house.

zeddybrek · 14/11/2019 18:01

Lakeland heated airer. Dries a whole wash quickly.

AfterSchoolWorry · 14/11/2019 20:14

I have 3 radiator dryers hanging over the landing bannistairs. Saves having clothes horses!

SurfingApple · 19/11/2019 22:25

On an airer with dehumifyer on clothes dry setting and door to the room shut. Dries full airer of clothes over night.
