Another prob I have is a build up of limescale in my toilet. Have tried harpic tablets and have tried a can of coke (recommended to me) but it is still there.

Any suggestions?

Harpic 100% limescale remover. Has been recommended on here before, and really does work wonders.

Knock all the water back down the u bend, then pour Harpic down and leave overnight.
Then scrub!!

Use the loo brush and push the water down.
It will go right down so that you can clean it poroperly.
Like a plunger action.

Cillit bang is the only thing i find really shifts it.

i second the harpic limescale remover its great once you have cleared it, just put some down once a week over night to keep it clean

WanderingTrolley · 19/08/2007 09:21

Harpic Blue all the way.

Leave it in the loo overnight. Shut door because it smells like a chemistry lesson gone wrong.

devonsmummy · 19/08/2007 09:23

Harpic is the one

Wilkie · 19/08/2007 17:44

Armed with Harpic - leaving it in overnight.

Thanks all

Get a pumice stone that will shift it for definite! Only prob is that you will need to get your hand down the loo. Oh and get rubber gloves as well!

Had same prob - thick (as in several millimetres) limescale.
2 Harpic tablets overnight --> a coin size hole at the bottom.
Scrubbed violently with loo brush for 20 minutes --> one other small patch.
Pushed out water, poured evil looking black Harpic liquid in, left for 8 hours --> some flaky bits appeared at the edges.
More violent loo brush action --> slightly cloudy water.
Final solution: heavy duty rubber gloves and a lolly stick --> chips of scale (some so heavy they wouldn't flush) but white porcelain now unbesmirched!
