Airing cupboard dilemma....is this a good idea?

Ok I have an airing cupboard in my bedroom with a water tank at the top 2 shelves underneath where my spare linen lives and floor space currently home to shoes etc. Anyway I was thinking of moving spare linen to underbed storage boxes taking the shelves away and putting my clothes airer in there so that way it'll be out of the way and hopefully the clothes will dry fairly quickly thereby reducing necessity to use the tumble in wet weather.

What do you think is it a good idea or not? I'm lucky in that the hot water tank is fairly high up inside it so there is room for the airer to stand quite comfortably in there, but could do with words of wisdom before ripping it all apart in there.

Thanks

Hi MWW

That sounds like quite a good plan. It'll save tumble drying etc. Watch out for wires etc though...

not much help but I would probably do it!

I used to do this when I had a hot water tank. I now have a combi boiler but got the plumber to put a tiny radiator in so that I can still put clothes on the airer in. It's not going to dry stuff quickly but could save some tumbling. I run my tumble dryer on economy 7 over night as it's in the garage.

When we were little my Mother used to fold up the clothes after taking them off the washing line and pile them on top of the water tank to make sure they were dry. I can't remember whether she ironed them first or not though. I would do it. HTH.

I have space to hang loads of clothes in the airing cupboard and it is so useful.
Do it!!

It works well, we have room for a clothes airer in our airing cupboard and thats how we get all our clothes dry in winter, most things will dry overnight.

Right then will start removing the shelves later on today then!!! Cheers for the support, just needed to make sure I wasn't about to wreck the airing cupboard!

Isn't there a problem of condensation? Mould on walls etc?

only do it if it has vented or louvred doors
