Food processor confusion

Need a new food processor and willing to spend about £150- but there must be a decent one for less! Need it really for chopping, grating, slicing, soups etc Have considered Magimix which is more expensive but looks a bit of a faff with all those bowls. Keep reading reviews of food processors and there always seems to some problem with any of them. Did consider a Kenwood but supposedly their is a glitch with the mechanism to take the jug off causing the contents to fall out when it is turned the wrong way- sounds just may kind of cock up! It must be: easy to put together, simple-(get easily confused), not too heavy/ large (to keep in a cupboard), easy to clean, powerful, easy to store accessories. Bit of a tall order, but any suggestions would be really helpful.x

Magimix is meant to be the best, go down to John Lewis and speak to the staff, their usually pretty knowledgeable.

Thank you- John Lewis have just closed near us- very annoying(!)-so relying on online reviews and research. Have looked at Magimix but not that convinced at the quality/ cost ratio about £125 for a compact Magimix. Any other takers for suggestions for a good quality blender which have my 'wish list' must haves? Doing my head in a bit!

I have a Kenwood and I think it is this one

I love it, use it weekly with the blender to make oat milk, I use the main bowl to chop onions, and grate carrots for batch cooking. I have never had an issue with the contents emptying out when you turn it the wrong way, you would have to use considerable force on mine to do that.

The feed tube allows me to keep carrots upright for small grated lengths of carrot (fussy nephew) and the whole thing cleans easily.

I also considered the Magimix but I thought how often would I need more than one bowl and seriously how hard is it to rinse a bowl out?

I’ve been looking at the Ninja food processor for my dh, he loves cooking and used a crappy hand me down for years.
It’s £150 but can split the payments and it seems to have good reviews. (I’m not clued up on any kitchen things though!)

All food processors have bowls etc just that the Magimix has different ones so that you can process small and large amounts! Mine must be around 15 years old and still going strong. I don’t like them for whisking egg whites though and prefer a normal mixer with a balloon whisk or do them by hand. The Magimix is brilliant quality and much better than cheaper brands.

thank you bouncydog - missed out on buying a magmix in the sale at Debenhams (£20 off). Will have anothergo on Black Friday. Still a bit concerned that when using the Magimix food processor the other bowls get dirty as I believe they all have to be used together?

I have a magimix 4100 which is still going strong after 10 years. I’ve only ever used the large bowl. Have had to replace the lid every couple of years but otherwise it’s been great. Keep it in a cupboard and just get it out when I need it.

I'm after the same thing! The reviews on Amazon for the Magimix are terrible. I think I'm going to get the cheaper kenwood

Astressie · 21/11/2019 23:55

yes the Amazon reviews confused me considering others rave about Magimix!
