Integrated Washing Machine/Dryer

Our 1st integrated washing machine and I already hate it. I'm really good at keeping my appliances clean and regularly run cleaning cycles with either machine cleaner or white vinegar & bicarb.

My issue is it constantly smells! I try and leave the door open for as long as possible- mostly overnight but to no avail, it stinks!
I hate opening it the next day after closing the door.

And don't even get me started on the dryer. I've tried using it a handful of times since December and it makes the clothes smell damp or slightly rubbery. It takes an absolute lifetime to dry anything too.

Any tips?!

Is this two separate machines or a washer dryer?

We had a Samsung washer/dryer and it was appalling. It didn't wash properly and the clothes came out feeling and smelling burnt and overly creased. It also leaked.
It lasted 10 months. I replaced them with which? Recommended best buys and got two separate machines and they are so much better. My energy bills have come down too (we do 2/3 loads of washing a day)
Re the smell, do you only wash on low temperatures? We regularly wash towels and bedding on a minimum of 60 and don't have this issue.
My previous freestanding dryer was also rubbish and it's the same make as the one I have now which is just brilliant.

@Fluffycloudland77 Sorry, it's a washer/dryer combo. Not my choice but installed in the new house. Previously had separate machines and no problems

@BammBamm Yes, most washes are at 40. I'm scared of higher temps! However all my deep cleans are at 60 or higher.
I clean without fail monthly (have an alert to remind me, how sad am I! But I descale the kettle at the same time) and then do high temp empty washes in between the monthly deep clean.

Under the dispenser drawer is a pipe, stick a cloth down it and see if it’s got a black slime in it.

If you take the drawer out after each wash and let everything dry out it doesn’t smell as much.

Have you emptied the filter out recently?.

I think the rubber smell is a fault though with these washer dryers, normal dryers don’t have so much rubber getting hot every time you want to dry something.

The drying capacity is usually half the washing capacity, are you over filling it?.

Also I’ve just thought, if you mix bicarbonate and vinegar together it fizzes impressively but the two ph’s cancel each other out so there’s no cleaning property left.

Wilko sell citric acid which is brilliant for limescale & washing sofa is good for any fatty residues left in the machine if you use them separately because the soda will be alkaline.

@Fluffycloudland77

Thanks for that. Why the hell have I been using white vinegar and bicarb for all these years- I read it somewhere on one of those cleaning hacks. I did not know that!
I cleaned the filter, it's a self cleaning type but I gave it a quick clean and that was fine.

I don't overload on washes, I tend to wash little and often which is probably the problem but 2 small children (1 baby) I need to keep myself ahead of the game.

I'll get myself some of that from wilkos.im thinking I should do the deep clean more than once a month.
I still despise the dryer setting. It's useless

We had a washer-dryer which Dh says was the best thing ever but he only did laundry for approximately 5 minutes in between his ex moving out and me moving in. It was a good washer, that’s all I can say about it.

Maybe run a 60 or 90 wash once a week, I’m thinking there’s going to be some poo on the clothes if you’ve got a baby.
