Getting set blood stain out

Any good tips here? Asked my DD to strip her bed so I could wash the bedding, didn't see a blood stain. It's washed now in 60 degrees. How do I get rid of stain?

Hot wash seems to set the stain.
Cold soak first.
Think it may be ruined?
But i dont know everything 😊

I did this this morning! Put the stained bit in a washing up bowl in the bath, good shake of vanish, warm water, left it an hour, straight in the washing machine, it’s perfect.

Oddly, I put a babygro with some food stains on the neckline in as well, hasn’t shifted at all.

Try rubbing washing up liquid into the stain with a small amount of water before rewashing. Do you use bio powder as that works best on that type of stain? P.s. cold water is best for blood stains

Akire · 27/10/2019 16:55

If it’s white sheet then bleach will make it disappear in about 5min just cover the stain and watch it go

MrsSpenserGregson · 27/10/2019 16:56

Yes, you need cold water - washing at 60 will set the stain tbh. If the sheets are white, you could try a bleach spray. Or wet the stain with cold water and get some soap (hand soap, or even washing up liquid) and scrub scrub scrub!

Unfortunately it's not white so bleaching is not an option. I use Fairy non bio pods to wash clothes, don't know if they are any good to lift set stains?

Bio uses enzymes to digest stains. Powder has bleaches that also helps lift stains. Liquids/pods are a bit crap really

MrsSpenserGregson · 27/10/2019 17:13

Soap, cold water and lots of elbow grease it is then!

Salt is good for fresh blood, that could be worth trying, soak overnight with salt rubbed in, some vanish scoops for good measure

I haven't tried this on blood but it works well on other stains so you never know...

Spray with hydrogen peroxide.
Sprinkle with sodium bicarbonate.
Rub in.
Spray with more hydrogen peroxide.
Leave for a while. (30mins plus??)
Rinse.
Repeat if necessary.

I used this on a set stain today (not blood) and it worked amazingly after 2 goes.

SandAndSea · 30/10/2019 20:24

Actually, the above might bleach the fabric??

Stain remover. Apply to the stained area and follow the instructions,
