Getting Calpol out of carpet?

Pointof0return · 07/10/2019 15:18

Spilled some pink Calpol (well, pharmacy own brand calpol type medicine) on DD's carpet at 3am! Scrubbed a bit with baby wipes and staggered back to bed thinking id deal with it today.

Any tips?

I’d start with warm water then use some carpet cleaner like 1001 or vanish. Work from outside of stain in and try to blot rather than scrub

Is it sugar free?
The sugar one used to come out with a red hot flannel, blotting not rubbing but if it's sf no idea.

Dr Beckman cleaner from Amazon is excellent on most things.

I agree with Dr Beckmann stuff it works wonders

Great thanks all. Will have a go tomorrow. Have left it today- I read online if you let it dry you can scratch it about a bit and some of it will hoover up so will do that first then go in with hot flannel then 1001. It's not sugar free.

Let me know how it goes I have the same problem but with my pink body lotion.

Magic sponge! Worked a treat on my calpol stained beige carpet

Pointof0return · 08/10/2019 14:44

I've had a scratch at it and some sticky bits came away but it's still damp so letting it dry.

Annoyingly have noticed it's sugar free, hope that doesn't make it harder to get out with warm water.

@fannyanney

Which magic sponge do you mean? A few types come up when googled

I got mine from home bargains. It's just a white sponge that you wet and then use on stains

Update (because I do love an updated thread)
Scratching it when dry and hoovering didn't do much. However I dabbed and blotted with hot water on a muslin and then a dry muslin and it's come out really well! Can see a slight darker patch but I think it's just damp now.
Hooray!
