Washer/dryer combination or Stand-alone Dryer?

Was after recommendations just with the wet weather fasr approaching and finally having space for a seperate Dryer just wondered what people would recommend or what peoples experiences were of washer dryers or stand alones.

Also if recommending standalone dryers would you recommend vented or a condenser model?

Thanks IA

Separate. I often have mine running at the same time. Only having one would double the laundry time.

We have a Hotpoint Aquarius and its very good.

Definitely a stand-alone model - the capacity of the drum means that you can never dry the load you washed in one go. And if you have more than one load of washing to do, you have to wait till the drier is finished before you can wash the second load.

Vented or condenser depends on the space you have available - we have never been able to vent, so always had a condenser model.

I inherited a washer/drier from the previous owner. Each load took forever to finish the cycle and despite my best efforts, the dried laundry was always horribly creased. Essentially, it's asking a machine to do two completely different things and they don't cope well.

At the first opportunity, I had the washer/drier ripped out and replaced it with two separate machines.

Never again.

Always separate. We had a washer dryer and the dryer part bust long before the washer part, also it was fairly rubbish at drying. I've always had vented, which have always worked well.

I had a washer dryer once, nearly 30 years ago. I will never have another. It was very unreliable.

Separate machines all the way here.

The washer/dryers never seem to get the clothes completely dry. Plus it takes forever.

I have a washer dryer because there is no space for both. They both function well, but can't do both at the same time. I would have both if there was the space.

I have a washer/dryer because no space for both (rented) given the choice I would have separate. Same as others have said, takes ages, leaves things not quite dry and unless I watch it like a hawk then stuff comes out creased.

Definitely separate! My old separate machines took about an hour each to wash and dry a load. My swanky, expensive new washer-dryer takes literally 5-6 hours to do the same thing, and nothing's ever totally dry. So you either do it overnight and it sits in the machine slightly damp until you pull it out all creased the next day, or you take it out immediately and shake/hang it out for 30 mins just to finish drying off, defeating the purpose of the dryer function. Its so frustrating I cried about it the other day (but I am very pregnant and hormonal atm!)

Separate. We have a combination & it's a pain

Lekky12 · 06/10/2019 18:46

Separate. I have a washer dryer and hate it but literally no room for separates. It heats things to 1million degrees and unless it's in there for 2+hrs it doesn't dry and all the time limiting washing potential. I love going on holiday as there is a dryer... 45mins...boom washing dry!
