Keeping birthday cards and letters - do you? where?

Am doing a big clear-out. Have got boxes and boxes of birthday cards and Xmas cards and letters. Am OK with getting rid of Xmas cards - and recycling them for labels - but what about cards and letters with sentimental value?

How do you all keep yours? Do you keep them? Where?

Thanks!

I'm brutal and I chuck them out

Ridingthegravytrain · 04/10/2019 20:44

Chuck here too. Or let the children cut out the pictures etc century threw away our wedding cards. Hadn’t looked Them in 10 years. Then read a thread not long after where someone was furious their husband or wife had just done just that without telling them. Oops!

*recently (not century!)

I recycle all paper and card that is no longer required.

Ive kept some from family who have passed away, i also have cards from my nana and grandad saved as they are 86 and wont live forever so i am keeping them. If you want to clear the space but not forget the cards messages you could take photos and save to pc/cloud/memory stick in case you want to see them again

The only"correspondence" I've kept are letters from do when we first started seeing each other, and I was home for the holidays. Might get rid of them in case the kids ever read them!!!

Thanks.

What about kids' school books?? I have piles of the damn things and don't know which to keep/chuck...

Kondo test for me- if a card or letter still puts a grin on my face I keep it. If it's the picture that makes me happy I frame it/pin it up somewhere.
Most of them were lovely to receive, but can then go on their way once they've been on the mantle for a bit.

I scan or take a photo of most, then recycle. I keep a few each year and put in a scrapbook of the year (am not a big crafter/scrapbooker, but it's a good way of storing this sort of thing).

My bedside table drawer had the most recent ones I choose to keep. This builds over a period of years and they then get added to a box I keep in a cupboard of stuff I want to have for later. It has my grandfather's winter hat, letters from my grandmother, bits and pieces.
