Such a boring topic of conversation but.....

Can anyone recommend a dehumidifier that is not too expensive but really works please?

I've got an ecoair D1somethingorother. I think it was around £100 several years ago on amazon and I wouldn't be without it. It works brilliantly and never faulted once.

Thanks, will look that one up!

What do you want to use it for / where are you going to put it? How big is your house?
Is it to tackle damp in a specific area or your whole home in general?

Dessicant models work best in low temperatures eg unheated conservatory or garage etc. They blow out warm air so can double up as a heater in cooler areas.
Condensing models work best at over 18 degrees C. They blow out cool air. Noisier than dessicant.

10 to 12L sizr is suitable for specific rooms / 1-3 bedroom houses. 18 to 30L for larger homes.

Meaco DD8L, Ecoair DD1 Simple, Ecoair DC18 and Electriq CD20LE-V2 are Which? recommended for around £150.

The condensing model I had also blew out warmed air. (I think it passed the outgoing dry air over the coils of refrigerant.)

I currently have a dessicant one, though, as my house is below 18 degrees in the winter.

It's to tackle a few small damp patches in my hallway and 2 reception rooms, I think caused by putting washing on radiator to dry (have stopped doing this now).

Thank you for your recommendations!

We have a 10l Meaco one. Ordered from airconcentre.co.uk as was free delivery and cheaper than any other site or shop. It's really good and not too noisy.

I've got a Meaco it's great, has a washing setting so I put clothes on clothes horse now and let the dehumidifier dry them. The place doesn't feel damp like it felt when I was putting clothes on the radiators.
