Cooker advice please!

I am replacing my old gas cooker as we are having new kitchen units. Due to space constraints it will have to be a freestanding one but I am in a bit of a dilemma because I am dithering between an electric cooker with either gas or induction hob or another completely gas cooker. I have never found my current cooker very accurate temperature wise so I can hardly believe I am contemplating gas again, but to be honest I haven't seen anything I've been particularly impressed by. So please could you spare a few minutes to tell me what sort of cooker you have and whether you would recommend it. I would be very grateful!

We have electric oven and gas hob

Electric with induction hob. If your gas cooker had an electric ignition you'll probably need to upgrade the electrical connection to run an oven and decent induction hob, you definitely will if it's a double oven.

I guess the question I should have asked really is does anyone have a gas cooker that they are really pleased with and what make it is? I'm thinking in particular of when you are baking cakes etc. It would be easier and cheaper for us to stick with gas because although the cost of wiring in cooker is included in our quote for the kitchen, I am worried it won't be straightforward because the wiring in our house is old.

I had a zanussi twin oven cooker about 8 years ago. I still miss it (I moved somewhere with a shitty fully fitted electric oven - hate the replacement one as well).

The cooker I have now is a Zanussi and although I have always moaned about it in terms of uneven temperature it has never needed a repair and I have got used to cooking on it. I'm beginning to wonder if I switch back to electric I may be disappointed! I'm now considering either a Hotpoint Cannon or Stoves Sterling, both of them gas

I have an Everhot which is electric with a hot plate and an induction hob. You can buy smaller ones. The plus with gas is if there is a storm and the electric is off. I would advise going to a big showroom and seeing them and talking to a salesperson. then go home and make your mind up. Our electrics need upgrading so yours might too.
The induction hob is very quick but you may need new pans. I did Grin

Thanks everyone who posted, I have taken the plunge and gone for gas again - at least I know where I am with that! Now I just have to choose paint colours for kitchen 😂
