Cleaning tips

my husband wants us to get a cleaner, we’ve just done a big extension and there is a lot more house to clean now, and I’ve never been that great domestically speaking, now the youngest is at school I have a lot more time. I don’t want a cleaner, we’ve had a trial today and I just don’t like having a stranger in my house, I can’t put my finger on why but I just don’t like it. Anyway, the point of my post is that I will be following team Tomm method and it looks manageable for me. I would like some recommendations about things other peoples do daily with bathrooms to keep on top of them, in particular glass shower screens, They seem to get ingrained with a film and even if I scrub it just doesn’t come off, please hit me with your hero products for this. And any other tips you have! Thanks

I love Tomm but cant be arsed cleaning bathrooms every day. I have 3 of them! However I do keep microfiber cloths in each bathroom and wipe the sink and taps down once or twice a day. I also have a shower spray and that seems to stop the tiles and shower screens getting grotty. The loos get cleaned every other day.

I adjusted my TOMM so that I do bathrooms on a wednesday. Halls and stairs get cleaned on a monday instead, with the living room.

We use a squeegee after each shower to keep the worst away, and then wash it properly ever so often (not as often as I should) but the squeegee really helps!

Not bathroom necessarily, but wiping as you go along helps. You probably do anyway.
Wiping jars and bottles before they go back on the shelf/in the cupboard or fridge etc.
Lots of spare dusters folded neatly at hand helps.

Glass shower screen the only way is to wipe it down daily and either weekly or if you can get away with longer Vikal spray.

If you have stainless steel products once you have cleaned them wipe over with a dab of baby oil it removes any smears and finger marks.

If you can get some Shiny Sinks that's good for shining up any stainless steel towel radiators you have and gas hobs again if stainless steel.

I've colour coded my cleaning cloths and keep a stock upstairs and downstairs so I can have a quick wipe over if needed - sadly I think it also helps keep me accountable to myself as if there are not a lot of cloths I know I've skipped something Grin

Cordless vac is say is a must it helps stop it feeling like a chore.

I also make my own spray as we have a lot of natural wood and I can't use anything abrasive on it I use an old spray bottle put in a good glug of fairy with some water and use that - it's great.

Feather duster - long reaching one would be my final tip

I wouldn't like a cleaner either.
Lidl sell a great limescale remover in a bottle (w5 I think)
Windows I can never get right but I use hot soapy water with fairy liquid and a drop of zoflora to clean.
I think decluttering is the best thing to do. Keep the place clutter free. Wash cushion covers regularly. Buy a web remover (got mine in aldi).

Cillit bang (rust) is the one product I find brilliant for stubborn marks.

TOMM but I change the days to suit me, a cordless vacuum and mop.
