I'm sick to death of lumpy, flat, hard or overly large pillows. Please help, I am going round in circles trying to decide what to buy, but we are getting a new bed this week and I really need a new pillow to go with!
I sleep on my side, have been getting some shoulder pain, and I like something soft so my ear doesn't get all squished! I quite like the soft tempur pillow in the shop, but it's £££. Any suggestions? I'm considering going for a wool duvet, so perhaps a wool pillow also?

Can I tag along OP? Also looking for new pillows and considering wool, but would love some recommendations!

It's such a hard thing to buy as you really need to see and feel them. I took my pillows on our uk break so I could sleep well! I would definitely consider investing in good ones but would probably only have the chance to buy online as I'm quite bound to local areas with very small babies.

Ha! I’m on my 4th pillow in the hunt for the holy grail. It’s the best so far and was part of a 2 for £9 pack from Asda!

So far I have dismissed a Tempur pillow, a dunlopillo pillow and an IKEA pillow so covering all prices ranges!

Tartyflette · 08/09/2019 19:28

I can't stand foam pillows, you can't mould or pummel them into a comfortable shape. I love goose down ones but they don't last that long before they lose their 'body' IYSWIM.
They are insanely expensive too. But I can't sleep without them.
I have a small duck down pillow for travelling, that's quite good.

I have a 'Feels like Down' pillow from Soak and Sleep.

Actually I have 2 Blush because I ordered a soft and a firm one to decide which I liked better, and then never sent the surplus one back...

I use the firm one, and it's like one of those squishy pillows you get at really nice hotels. It cushions my head but doesn't go flat and I love it nearly as much as I love my children Grin
Bit pricey compared to the 2 packs from Tesco or whatever but soooooooo worth it.

Mine were from Argos. I go for the best reviews. Mine are amazing!

I also bought a Tempur pillow last year ( think about £79 ) but not overly impressed . I've kept with it due to the cost, but would love to find, the one.

Imicola · 09/09/2019 10:13

Gong to try the feels like down ones, as they are cheaper than I expected!

This www.latexsense.co.uk/latex-sense-traditional-dunlop-latex-pillow/p45

Doesn't go flat, is squishy soft with really good medium support. It's temperature neutral and mine is still going 5yrs later as good as the day I got it.

No I don't have any affiliation with them I just know how hard it is to get a really good pillow!

Spongeface · 13/09/2019 23:28

I'm also going to try the feels like down ones. thanks for starting this thread op.
The last one I saw like this I got John Lewis ones.... Still terrible. So here's hoping we all find the one!

Lyingonthesofainthedark · 14/09/2019 16:49

I think pillows are personal. People like different types. Personally, I like feather ones, and not overstuffed.

Imicola · 14/09/2019 18:04

I quite like the soft feels like down one. Much better than any other I have at home at the moment, but my shoulders are still hurting... Going to wait for our new bed to arrive then see what they are like in combination.

I purchased very expensive Hungarian goose down pillows (no feathers just down) cost me a lot of money but that was 10 years age I wash they twice a year dry on line then finish off in tumble dryer with drying balls , use a pillow protector!! And but on clean bedding ever week. So even thow they cost a lot of money over the years it’s been worth it.

percheron67 · 21/09/2019 20:08

Goose down or duck and mixed feather. Cannot stand man-made fibres - they give me neck ache.

stucknoue · 21/09/2019 20:10

My Aldi ones are amazing, they were the more expensive range though, just like down

EducatingArti · 21/09/2019 20:11

I've found that a GX suspension pillow is the best so far.

mineofuselessinformation · 21/09/2019 20:16

Homescape hotel quality microfibre bounce back pillows. Available from amazon. My pillows have to be exactly the right height (neck issues) and these are great, in fact I find I only need one - you may prefer to have a thin pillow underneath.
If you have a partner consider buying more than one set so you can rotate them and 'give them a rest' so they fully bounce back before you use them again. They last ages!

Spam88 · 21/09/2019 20:41

I'm very much a dunlopillo fan. Squishy but supportive, and they don't go hard when they squish like some other materials.

Had my first one for 10 years and it was still going strong.

80sMum · 21/09/2019 20:51

Look no further, OP! THIS is the one!

RushianDisney · 21/09/2019 21:27

The John Lewis duck down with a feather and down core are pretty good, they seem to have stopped making the 100% duck down ones which are my personal favourite. I find synthetic really sweaty.
