Never had a tumble drier

I’ve never had a tumble drier and didn’t have one growing up either so this is going to sound like a stupid question but I want to get one as I have 4 children and I’m finding it very hard to get their clothes dry (takes days in my house.) I have a very small kitchen that wouldn’t fit one but I do have a dining room, can they be plugged anywhere? Do they need plumbing in like a washing machine?? Or do you just simply plug it in?

They don't need to be plumbed in but depending on what sort you get you might need a venting tube. Better to look at condenser ones where you empty out a water drawer if you don't have anywhere to put a hose outside the house

Maybe get a dehumidifier. I have one and clothes dry in a couple of hours. They are a lot smaller than a tumble dryer and you can put them away when not in use.

Ours vents outside through a hole in the wall, I like it because slightly damp clothes don’t get fusty if they are left in for 24 hours

I have one. Definitely get a dehumidifier if you are using it in a living space. I’ve also noticed theyvwork much better on a hard surface rather than carpet (no idea why).

Yes, a condenser just needs a plug and you empty out liquid water by hand, and a vented one needs a plug plus an outlet for the venting tube - usually a hole in the wall but you can use a window.

Condensing ones are more expensive and take significantly longer to run than vented, but they're just "plug and play" which makes them preferable for a lot of people.

Thanks for the comments! Definitely going to get one then. Will also look at dehumidifiers see which is best
