so how do I recycle 'Sol' bottles when they have a wedge of lime at the bottom?

(Rather commonly, I swigged Sol out of the bottle, but I now have a 'middle class' need to recycle said bottle )

I've tried to get the lime out, but it wont budge. Should I invent a lime hook-er-outer (pat. pending) to help others in the same situation, or is there an easier way?

That sounds fun.. I'll have a go in daylight so I can see how far the lime flies...

ab'sol'utely mommalove.
I can see it branded, and sold as a 'we promote recycling' promotional tool.

Can I also suggest that you make this tool multi-functional so that it also hooks out damsons from a demi-john as we have some withering away from DPs damson gin making session.

I'll trial it for you if you like

bettythebuilder · 07/08/2007 22:19

So, attractive hook type implement that 'telescopes' out to reach the bottom of a demi john.
Now what's the website for the patent office...?

fill it with water and see if the lime floats up to where you can grab it?

Or just recycle it with the lime in - how much damage could it possibly do to a vat of crushed glass?

I tried all the grabbing techniques, to no avail.

When I used to live in Leeds we kept getting letters from the council warning that any contaminents could ruin a whole lorry load of recycing (I think they exaggerated to scare us )
I've had recycling guilt ever since

That's OK - you are still winning easily anyway

(I have had boards full of 1-pointers for the last 3 moves )

bettythebuilder · 07/08/2007 22:56

I can see whole new entrepeneurial career ahead of us, mommalove.

I even try to hide the alcohol bottles under the solitary jam jar in my recycling box in case the neighbours judge

littlelapin, it was a moment of weakness prompted by the 'free lime with a four pack of sol' offer at my local sainsburys. I've realised the error of my ways, and I'm back to G&T with an easily disposed of slice of lemon.

Sol really reminds me of outdoor music events and festivals in the sunshine in the early 90's...wistful sigh....
