Cordless Vacuum Recommendations

We currently have a Dyson Big Ball Cylinder Vacuum. It is great on carpet but downstairs we have Amtico flooring and due to three children, I vacuum multiple times a day, and I really want something smaller and lighter weight. I mainly need to vacuum up grass trampled in from the garden, crumbs etc. Any ideas?

I bought a Vax blade recently. Just for a quick buzz around of stairs and bedrooms and it's great. I must admit that had I had the funds, I'd have probably gone for the Dyson equivalent. However, the Vax does a great job and is good value for money and I'm happy I bought it. It's not too heavy to scoot upstairs with and has really made a huge difference to my cleaning.

Also, we have wood flooring downstairs and my Vax is also great for scooting up crumbs and stuff the kids have tramped in. It has a different setting for hard flooring to carpet. It's very effective for that sort of quick job

I have the hand held Dyson. It's good but very expensive.

Shark duo clean.
Imho it is nicer to use than the hand held dyson (my mum and sister have dysons).
I’ve got two batteries so there’s always one on the charger.
It’s really nice to use and you don’t have to keep the button pressed all the time like on a dyson,
I resisted spending that much initially (it’s similar in price to a dyson cordless, or was when I bought it) but ended up wasting money on a vax that was completely rubbish.
You change from hard floor to carpet by pressing a button rather than changing the whole head which I think you’re supposed to do on a dyson.

It does well on hard floors & carpet but I think it’s slightly better on hard - we’ve got karndean and some engineered wood.

It passes my Cheerio test with flying colours whereas the vax just pushed them along!

We've just bought this Shark. It's brilliant. It's so easy to use and i like the fact that's it can stand up by itself and the battery can come out to be charged.

We've got a Shark Liftaway too but I can see that becoming redundant now.

....lower your standards.... Vacuum once a day...

I have a dyson v10 absolute after years of having a dyson cylinder hoover. I don’t recommend the cordless dyson. We brought it last October, it needed a new battery in December and now it’s just stopped working completely again! 😔

Whatever you do don't get this one!

Shark

I have a cleaning business using clients' own equipment and get to use various models of cordless Dyson and Shark weekly.
Whilst the Shark do have 2 batteries, so as pp said upthread, you can change one when it's flat, the batteries do not last as long as the newer Dysons, so it does not equate to twice the run time.
Shark do have some advantages / nice features e.g bends in the middle of the wand to fit under furniture, The bit that goes on the floor stands up on it's own which is very handy when swapping over or if you have used the wand on its own for high vacuuming and then want to put the foot bit back on.
However, and it's a big however, Shark are nowhere near as good as the newer Dyson cordless models on carpet. For me, this is a dealbreaker- I couldn't shell out on the Shark when it can't compete on carpet cleaning.
Dysons do have drawbacks- the fact there's only one battery, fiddly to change tools and empty, the fact you have to constantly grip the trigger to use. But, their performance is far superior in my opinion.

We have a corded Miele that’s used once a week on the carpets upstairs, but for me the day to day spot cleaning is downstairs on the hard floors and couple of large rugs so the shark works well for us, and I find it’s fine on the rugs, just prefer it on hard floors
