Does anybody have a butler/Belfast sink?! Urgent advice needed!!!

Does anybody have a butler/Belfast sink?! If so, can you tell me - does it stick out about an inch from the edge of your worktop, or is it flush with the worktop edge?

It can do either - most I have seen are flush with the worktop but sometimes they do jut out a little. It depends on where your plumbing is for the taps, if it is not far enough back, then the sink would have to be set forward a little - IYSWIM?

We're in the process of trying to get a worktop cut for the sink and I was planning on having it flush but just read that they are supposed to just out, which throws my whole plan into chaos But if it doesn't matter then that's great - thank you so much, you've saved my brain from exploding!

mine is about 3/4 an inch further back than the worktop - the worktop is cut to cover the top edges of the sink and juts out in front of it slightly if you see what I mean.

As long as it looks nice it doesn't really matter does it?

Anorak, I agree, I don't really see how it matters - I was just worried because the thing I read made it sound like it was something to do with stopping water seeping into the worktop or something like that... and we really need our sink to be either flush or set back (no room for it to stick out).

Thanks that is useful to me as we are having a new kitchen when I have made my mind up but a Belfast sink is definite.
