Dehumidifier vs heated surer

We don't have space for a dryer in our house but am sick to death of using a normal airer, stuff takes an age to dry!! Obviously put outside when it's dry but as autumn approaches I'm looking for an alternative.

I've heard that sticking a dehumidifier next to your airer massively reduces drying time, is this true? Or would a heated airer with cover from Lakeland be better?

*heated AIRER!

I don't have a heated airer but I assume the moisture would still be a problem. I have a dehumidifier and a normal airer. It's a bit of a pain as I can't do a 'wash day' as things dry slowly but at least no issues with damp in the house.

I think a dehumidifier is best as you can use it in other rooms and for other things as well. Heated airer may be good but could also cause damp.

Our heated airer made our house damp so we got a dehumidifier. I guess if we'd got the dehumidifier first, we wouldn't have needed the heated airer?

We bought a dehumidifier for the same reason as you and it’s surpassed expectations. It has a washing dry setting and it’s really good at drying washing fast with that setting. I am still amazed how much water it gets out of the air from wet washing.

I did a fair bit of research and this is the one we have
Meaco 20L Low Energy Dehumidifier, Ideal For Condensation www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HO963A6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_CLE1s6pVj8P2E?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I have the washing on a ceiling pulley airer and sometimes a normal standing airer too if I’ve done multiple loads in one day. In the room with the doors and windows closed for maximum washing drying results. Like you I dry outside in good weather.

We've got both! It is quite wet where we live and there was no chance of drying washing outside between October and March. It was taking so long to dry washing indoors that it started to smell so we bought one of the Lakeland electric airers. We've had it for about 13 years or so and it is great. The dehumidifier was bought for a different problem in the house but we now use it alongside the electric airer to prevent damp in the winter.

Sounds like it might be best to go for the dehumidifier at first as we can always use it for other things! I like the Lakeland heated ones with the cover too, much neater so may end up with both! Thanks for the recommendation! We're currently ttc and the thought of all the washing we have now plus baby stuff is 😩
