I usually wash whites seperately. School back on Tues, SD has new uniform. Her mum didn't wash it so I popped it in with our wash. New blue cardi has turned white polo shirt pale blue, how do I get it white again?
Currently soaking in Oct action whites stain remover.
Am I going to have to buy new ones??

Bit of bleach?

moreismore · 18/08/2019 15:49

Colour catcher?

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 15:51

Too late for colour catcher! I usually do use them but couldn't find them! Can I use bleach??

Bleach in sink with warm water.

EvenPhilip · 18/08/2019 15:54

I've used bleach to re-whiten stuff without any ill effects.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 15:56

It's still soaking. At this point I'll likely try bleach as I have nothing to lose! It's only a polo shirt but I can hear her mum now!

There's something like Colour Catcher, but for these situations. Same make, I think. Or I wonder if a net-curtain whitener would work? Or Ace Bleach (found in all good pound shops!)

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 16:15

Is normal bleach ok? Or do I have to buy something tomorrow?
Argh I'm usually careful with whites! Today, my adulting is crap
Thanks for suggestions, appreciate it!

I use that bathroom spray that removes mould. Works a treat. Just be careful that it doesn't get on anything you don't want bleaching

EvenPhilip · 18/08/2019 16:23

Yes normal bleach is fine, you don't have to buy anything fancy.

Lucked · 18/08/2019 16:26

You get colour run sachets usually neat colour catcher in the supermarket. You have to soak them with them. I had a navy and white shirt and the blue bled into the white - they worked brilliantly but I think it depends on the composition.

sheshootssheimplores · 18/08/2019 16:26

Hang on the line for days and days and days until the sun gets it white again.

LizzieMacQueen · 18/08/2019 16:26

Is there a school badge on the polo, wouldn't the bleach bleach that too?

I once bleached trousers ( me a teen) but it must have loosened the material and half way through the evening they fell apart Blush

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 16:27

Thanks EvenPhilip I've normal bleach in. It's more the fact her mum will start if I don't sort this.

Does it have a logo on it? If it does I would be wary of using bleach. When this happened to me I used Dr Beckmann’s colour run remover. Really worked.

Excitedforxmas · 18/08/2019 16:36

Bleach got the pink out of my sons shirts

CTRL · 18/08/2019 16:39

Bleach and hot water. Let the shirts sit in the hot water and then add some bleach and leave them to soak.

SnappedandFartedagain · 18/08/2019 16:52

Is it just a supermarket polo top? I think I would just replace it for a new one, they are only a couple of quid each.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 17:41

Went to supermarket. Bought two new ones for cheaper than the stain remover.
Job done.
I will attempt bleach also but at least I have a back up plan!
Thanks Grin

The mum must really be a piece of work Wink

TaighNamGastaOrt · 18/08/2019 19:34

@EvenPhilip there aren't the words. But I keep my big gob shut for the kids sake. They never asked to be on this situation.
