Steam mop for laminate floors

Hi

We have just had new laminate flooring throughout the downstairs of our house (hall,lounge/dining room, kitchen) and was wondering on the best steam mop for laminate flooring?

I currently have an old vax mop which does the job but starting to fall apart. I like to hoover and mop everyday so I need something which 1. Can handle everyday use and 2. Isn't going to ruin the floor. I seem to just be going round in circles at the moment. I'd definitely like to stick to a steam mop as I feel you get a good anti bacterial clean with the steam.

Thanks.

I don't think you are meant to use steam on laminate. What do the instructions on the flooring/ mop say?
I have a special soft mop and laminate cleaning solution for mine.

I called the manufacturer of mine and they said no.

"Cleaning Laminate Floors: Do not use steam cleaners or wet mops, which may cause irreparable damage to your floor. Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. ... Periodically clean the floor with cleaning products made specifically for laminate floor care."
I just copied this from google.

I didn't know you wasn't supposed to use steam mops on laminate flooring. I was just googling best steam mops and not if I was actually supposed to be using them or not 🙈

Obviously I don't want to ruin my floors but I never feel it's clean enough with just a Hoover.

Do not steam mop your laminate floor!
If you do it will cause it to start swelling and lifting around the edges and your floor will be ruined.
I use the Lakeland Hard Floor spray mop which cleans it really easily - product no. 46176 I think. The cleaning pad comes off and you can wash it and it dries quickly. I use plain tap water in mine but I sometimes put antibac liquid in diluted with tap water.
Don't waste money on Lakeland's cleaner for it as it's expensive and no better than water really. I just bought the mop and an extra cleaning pad. I also use Method Laminate Floor Cleaner once a month to preserve the laminate shine and give it some protection.

I use my steam mop sparingly on my LVT and laminate floors.
The LVT is in the hall and downstairs loo and I probably do it weekly.
The laminate much less as it's in the dining room which we use very infrequently.
I'm very careful not to leave it standing on the floors (which is fine on the tiles in the kitchen), do it quickly with no excess rubbing on any areas.

Ive been doing this for about a year and not noticed any deterioration compared to previously.

But it's not recommended.

Ummm my shark steam mop says its suitable for laminate flooring. I've been using it for years with no problems. Not daily admittedly, but at least weekly. The steam evaporates almost instantly unlike with a spray mop. Our is sealed anyway because kids, but I used it in our old house with no problems at all.

I use this that I bought off groupon. I think it was about £9.99. You can buy them in Home Bargains also (and other similar places). Cheap as chips. You just add water to the bottle, a dash of disinfectant or floor cleaner of your choice (I'm a Zoflora girl!) and it stands in a handy corner ready to go whenever you are 👍 Comes with 2 pads that wash in the machine. It's brilliant! I've had two expensive steam mops, but this cheap thing is a little gem.

Thank you everyone for the response!

I think steam mops is a definite no no then lol. Perhaps a spray mop will be ok, enough to get up any food/drink spills but not wet enough to get into the laminate?
