Zoflora cure?

Imtoohot · 25/07/2019 09:45

Some of my teenager son's shirts and t shirts have a sweaty armpit issue even after washing, will zoflora in the wash cure this? Or any other suggestions, I'd rather not throw them if poss.

Yes, it’s the only thing I use zoflora for. I think the dettol laundry stuff works too.

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 13:40

Dettol laundry. Zoflora stinks.

RoseDog · 25/07/2019 13:44

I've never used zoflora in the washign machine but I have soaked clothing over night in zoflora and washed as normal in the machine the next day and it has cured the smelly clothes.

Also 30 degrees is not hot enough to wash teenage boys clothes, I find myself having to wash them again at 40.

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 13:46

God yes, i wash stinky riding stuff at 60 with dettol. If it can get horse piss out it can get boy out.

Imtoohot · 25/07/2019 13:50

Thanks. I put it on at 40, zoflora in the fabric conditioner bit (is that the right bit?) and am waiting for the great reveal Grin

Zoflora is a disinfectant, you need detergent. Put a wash on and use the soak function or wait until the water has filled and pause it. Leave it to soak for a couple of hours and then complete the wash.

Use a bio spray on the pongy bits first and leave it to soak in.

Zoflora is nasty toxic stuff anyway.

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 13:59

No, you need a disinfectant to kill the bacteria that makes the smell.

EnormousDormouse · 25/07/2019 14:01

Halo sports wash (from Sainsbury's) works well - anti fungal and everything!

wowfudge · 25/07/2019 14:06

Disinfectant kills bacteria. Bacteria are what make clothes smell.

wowfudge · 25/07/2019 14:09

Zoflora is mainly alcohol.

Tolleshunt · 25/07/2019 14:09

Zoflora is a disinfectant, so will kill the germs. I find it works better with pre-soaking, rather than just using it in the machine.

wowfudge · 25/07/2019 14:11

Yep - agreed

DontCallMeShitley · 25/07/2019 14:21

I won't be washing my clothes in a household disinfectant, no matter what Mrs. Hinch promotes.

I tried Zoflora, it has some pretty powerful allergens.

I manage to remove smells from armpits with actual laundry products.

ItWentInMyEye · 25/07/2019 14:22

I use it in the machine and it gets rid of my DS's preteen BO smells 🤢

BelindasGleeTeam · 25/07/2019 14:26

Sports wash! Really work it into the pits neat, then wash.

Works a treat.

anothermansmother · 25/07/2019 15:57

Best way to get rid of the no smells is white vinegar sprayed into the area and then wash as normal. I say this as someone who has just washed a full set of rugby kits ( many of which seem to have evaded the wash for some weeks. Envy

Imtoohot · 25/07/2019 16:21

The zoflora didn't work...still wiffy.
I'm going to work my way through all the other suggestions. Is zoflora really such terrible stuff? This is the first lot I have bought, it seems like it's magic from some threads here.

Ilikesweetpeas · 25/07/2019 17:04

Halo sports wash is what you need!

Fibbke · 25/07/2019 18:54

Dettol laundry cleanser as directed 60 defrees

theneverendinglaundry · 26/07/2019 09:25

I would also recommend a sports wash, or a laundry cleanser.

Unstoppables now have a sports scent booster that is supposed to neutralise odours too.

Imtoohot · 26/07/2019 09:36

Thanks def need something to neutralise odours and for him to remember deodorant for the benefit of the rest of the population

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 26/07/2019 09:39

Heat! Don't be afraid of washing on a 60 wash, or even a 90 if the fabric can take it! 30 is great for eco, but before we decided to get more eco friendly 50 and 60 degree washes were there for a reason. Nothing wrong with the occasional higher temp wash imo.

RogueV · 26/07/2019 09:42

Line drying in the sun

florriepeck · 26/07/2019 13:05

OP, are you using enough detergent?
Check instructions on pack.
I put two Persil capsules in with a load, as it's a large capacity machine, and the pack advice is to use two for that reason, and for a heavily soiled load.
Are you using a good quality detergent?

florriepeck · 26/07/2019 13:13

And try spraying with Vanish or some such beforehand.
