New washing machine

I move into my brand new house on Thursday and it's the first time I have ever had a utility room. And it's got space for a washer and tumble dryer. I am so excited! But I can't decide what to go for. I want them to match so what does everyone suggest??

Anyone?

I don’t have a dryer but my new Samsung bubble is fab! (not the one where you can add stuff)
Cleans so well and all the washing smells so good.
I always use John Lewis

FixTheBone · 22/07/2019 07:42

Another vote for samsung ecobubble, we've got the 9.0kg non-addwash version, which incidentally you can open the door in the first few minutes of the cycle and add stuff.

How much washing do you do? We do a minimum of three loads a day, sometimes up to 5, and even the expensive hoovers and hotpoints have all died after a year-18 months, the samsung is 3 years old now. The other reason for asking is that with the volume of washing we do, there is no heat-pump or condensor that dries fast enough to keep up, so we have to get a vented drier (less energy efficient, but much, much quicker and don't need the water emptying).

Our Samsung came with a 5 year parts and Labor warranty as well.

Bosch and Miele are always good as well

FixTheBone · 22/07/2019 07:43

Samsung washing machines on offer in Currys at the moment as well.

Sooverthemill · 22/07/2019 07:45

John Lewis, own brand

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/07/2019 07:47

We have the Samsung EcoBubble. We bought a reconditioned one about 4 years ago and it's still great. When it gives put the ghost we will replace with a new one.

We have the Hotpoint Aquarius dryer and it's excellent. Its under 1h for a full load to be dried.

BlueCowWonders · 22/07/2019 10:24

Sooverthemill - we’ve had 3 JL own brand. None lasted beyond the 3 year warranty...😮

e1y1 · 22/07/2019 10:28

Going against the grain - I wouldn't have a Samsung Ecobubble given to me, true it is good that nearly all of them come with the 5 year warranty as it's almost certain you're going to need to use it (speaks from bitter experience of 2 Samsung's in recent years)

If you want to spend ££ then Miele, but if not, I've always had fantastic washers from Bosch.

LG are pretty good too

WellTidy · 22/07/2019 10:32

I have a Miele washer and a Bosch dryer. I couldn't recommend each of them enough. They're each 9 years old and have been amazing (I am frantically touching wood as I would be very upset indeed if anything happened to them!). The Miele was about £900 in Currys nine years ago, so it could be about that price now online. The Bosch was about £350. Mine are used daily, often more than once a day.

My boss at work has a Miele, it is 20 odd years old. He is waiting for it to die so that they can replace it with one that has a time countdown to the end of the wash, but it won't die!

Why do you want them to match?! Is it for aesthetics?

Jellyshoeswithdiamonds · 22/07/2019 10:35

Bosch every time.

I have two washers and one tumbler, which have all been great. I tend to go for the middle of the road price range with the temp settings that I need.

My other tumbler which is a Siemens has been good but needed a repair to clean a filter at the very back of the machine.

I looked at Miele washers and was impressed with functions but in reality I'd only use two settings so not sure I could justify the cost.

Sooverthemill · 22/07/2019 11:31

bluecowim astonished. Ours have lasted years and years, I replaced a 17 year old one 4 years ago and it's fine . What rotten luck you had

BlueCowWonders · 22/07/2019 11:40

It feels like modern machines just aren’t built to last. I hear friends talk about 20+ year old washers - I don’t think new ones would last the same way

Maydayredalert · 22/07/2019 13:46

My ecobubble died 1 month out of its 5 years. I wouldn't have one again.

I have an LG now and it is really good. And so quiet!

Alfiemoon1 · 22/07/2019 15:28

Another vote for the Samsung eco bubble

kaldefotter · 22/07/2019 15:32

I also have a Samsung 9kg ecobubble. I’ve had it 5 years, and had no problems with it.

My only issue is that it doesn’t have a spin only feature (it’s got a rinse and spin instead).

Vesperia · 22/07/2019 15:41

I love my Samsung ad wash - love the way she sings me a little song when she's finished the washing

ineedteanownotlater · 22/07/2019 16:34

Wow! Lots of votes for the Samsung.

Don't know how to 'tag' people and now that I am typing on the app I can't remember the posters name but to the lady that asked, yes I want them to match purely for aesthetic reasons!

My husband said Miele but I'm not sure I can justify the price to be honest!

OP posts:
FixTheBone · 22/07/2019 16:38

It took me ages to find the spin only function on mine -

try holding down the button for the spin setting at it should beep and go to spin only mode....

FixTheBone · 22/07/2019 16:38

@kaldefotter

read the above...

kaldefotter · 22/07/2019 16:51

@FixTheBone... blimey, I never knew! Thanks so much.

I’ve just gone and pressed buttons, and found the spin only section. The spin only is 14 minutes, so an improvement on the 19 min rinse and spin.

Still, it’s the only feature I miss from my old Zanussi machine - I could do a quick 6 min fast spin before putting moving the load to the tumble dryer.

nbee84 · 22/07/2019 17:00

I've got a beko washing machine and tumble dryer I've had them for 18 months now and am really pleased with both of them.

I've also got a beko dishwasher that I've had for several years and it's been better than the Bosch one that I had before it.
