Fly spray! Is it okay to use?

I’ve avoided fly spray for many years. My mum used to use the stuff excessively when we were kids. The smell put me off for life. She did have a massive fly problem.

Not had much of a problem with flies in my house in recent years but since the muggy weather started a couple weeks ago I’ve had a few around and little tiny thunder flies which I have been told is because I live near farms.

So I’ve gave in and bought some spray.

I only use it when the kids are at school, I spray a room, shut the door for a while, open the door, open the window (proably letting more of the buggers in). I put the dog outside then take her for a walk to avoid the initial spray.

Is it okay to use?

Worried I’m poisoning myself and the kids!

Read the can. Everything, including water, can be dangerous in excess. Like a lot of things, prevention can be better than cure so fly curtains and screens, etc which stop flies getting in. We have a fly curtain on the French doors of our kitchen. This means we can have the doors open without getting a room full of flies.

Thank you. I will have a look at fly curtains etc.

Btw I put the fly curtain header bar up using Command Strips so once it's cooler and there are fewer flies around I just take it down by pulling the velcro type tabs apart, roll it up and store it till next summer.
