Cleaning an induction hob.

Please help. My lovely new induction hob has a mark on it that won't come out. It looks like a water spill but seems to be in the glass, it's smooth to the touch. I've only ever used white vinegar on it but am happy to use chemicals too!!
Hope someone can help.

Have you used one of those scraper blade thingies? We've got an induction hob and it is a bugger to clean so I've given up trying to keep it pristine.

have got one of those but it seems to be in the glass

Have you tried hob-brite (orange container)?

Wipe on, wipe off, no effort needed at all and as good as new afterwards. (may not work if it is in the glass though)

Ok this is an old thread but I've been frantically searching for help as have the same problem!

New induction hob; I've only used it 3 times. Potatoes boiled over on it tonight (I'm still getting used to it) and when I cleaned it up there is what I thought to be a scratchShock, but actually Im not so sure - it's more of a spill mark, a line that follws the mark where the water was.

I can't get it out. Have hob cleaner, but Asda own version. Have I scratched it? I've been so so careful. New pans and everything Sad. I haven't dragged anything over it.

Just bumping again. I cleaned it for ages last night and made some progress with a little Viakel. As it's improved I don't think it can be scratched, but it's still faintly there.

My concern is will this happen all the time? What on earth made it do that?

We've had an induction hob for about a year and there are no marks on it and it gets a hard life! My cleaner uses Hob Brite or Sink Brite on it and comes up like new when she does it (not so good when I do it).

Thanks Speedos. You say what so many do, how you have no problems. Then there's me on my third go and all thisSad

I think I'm going to have to get proper HobBrite. Maybe the Asda own version is useless.

I'm still Confused at how a mere boil over of a few new potatoes could have caused this.

Just in case anyone ever panics the way I did about this and does a search, I can now confirm (with massive relief) that thanks to Hob Brite, the problem is solved. Gawd I was so worried there for a minute.

Clearly I have much to learn about this induction business.

Speedos · 27/11/2012 20:56

Pleased it worked Smile.

I know this was centuries ago. I just wanted to say I have the EXACT same issue, brand new induction hob, bought new pan for it, read all the manuals, followed instructions exactly, I've used it 3 times and now there seems to be some strange mark in the glass, I didn't panic, I tantrumed, I cleaned the top with everything I had, no effect, I wonder if it's the pan - I purchased a new carbon steel one from Asda. Anyway I'm now going to try this Hobbrite, I just wanted to say I really appreciate you posting your results with this product and lets hope it works for me too.

Exactly the same problem has happened to me tonight. Did Hob brite work?
