Cleaning filthy vinyl kitchen floor

Looking for any tips for cleaning my kitchen floor. I’ve been unwell for the past few months and been unable to clean my kitchen floor apart from a quick sweep and cursory mop. It’s absolutely filthy with ingrained dirt due to a mud loving dog and bikes, footballs etc being dragged through it.
It’s a cream marble effect vinyl floor so before I crack and replace it has anyone got any tips on how to get it back to a presentable state? Many thanks 😊

You need something a little abrasive. The magic sponge erasers are awesome on vinyl but don’t use them too often as they’ll take the pattern off. I use a minky pad though which is a bit like a loofah on one side, spray cilit bang on the floor and lightly wipe with a damp cloth to spread it about, have a cuppa whilst it works it’s magic and then use the minky scrubby thing and good as new!

I have white vinyl in the downstairs bathroom and 2 DS... evidently I didn’t think it through 🤦🏻‍♀️

Steam mop.
Less work than any other method, and more effective.

If you can get down on your hands and knees now, there nothing better than a bowl of soapy water, a scrubbing brush and a cloth.
If you can't and own a steam mop, you may have to do two or three passes to really shift it. (Spray bad areas first with something like Cif.)

Another vote for steam cleaner. I used it on a marble effect bathroom Lino after a particularly minging tenant moved out.
Quick, easy and amazing!

This stuff is very good for dirt that’s gone into the grain of the vinyl.

Thanks for all the tips, my steam mop broke so need to replace it. I’ll get some of that dettol spray as it’s really ingrained and get to work with a scrubbing brush!

Washing powder in hot water & a mop 👍

Use a mop to rub Cif over it and leave for a bit. Rinse off with something nice and smelly!!

CIF!

DeRigueurMortis · 07/07/2019 20:19

Dishwasher tablet dissolved in hot water and a mop.

The tablet is "designed" to lift grease and baked on dirt so is brilliant on a floor in my experience.

If it's really bad you might need 2 tablets to increase the concentration.

Would advise cif here too. Nail brush or such like to rub it in then wash off. Of course that's if it's hard wearing flooring. If it's easily marked just get scrubbing when a decent cloth.

Then order yourself a spray mop which will make it easier to keep on top of. Glad you're feeling better.

I have scrubbing brushes for the floor. I use the window vac for sucking the water up.
