Cleaning a coir mat

Hi all,
I want to clean the coir matting at the back door of my house share. The problem is it's integrated into the floor tiles and can't be removed. Apart from hoovering any ideas please?

I don't think they can be washed,I hoover and replace when it gets too grim.

Get an spatula down the side it and it should come up.

Traditional welcome mats are absorbent, so strong detergents should be avoided as this can leave marks or cause discolouration. Instead, you may want to try Baking Soda, which is also great for removing odours. Simply sprinkle on the baking soda, leave to sit for around 10 minutes and use a scrub brush to rub it in to the deeper fibres. Then remove the baking soda with a vacuum cleaner.Alternatively, you can wash dirt off coir door mats using a hose but hang them on a line to dry them completely before placing back on the floor

They should slide out so you can get grit, etc out before vacuuming. It's actually not very expensive. If it's worn and very dirty, a local carpet shop can probably replace it for you for a few quid. You probably have to fit it yourselves though.

Ooh - that was a bit garbled, but you get my drift.

We paid £60 12 years ago for a fitter to lay it, quite a big area though probably 4x4ft.
