Anyone taken a window out to get furniture in??

My new lovely solid oak ebay bargain arrived today and dipstick me hadn't thought to measure the doors to see if it'll fit (didn't even cross my mind). There I was thinking how great it was it wasn't flat pack and wouldn't have to put it together. It's been taken away and coming back next week once we've figured out how to get our door off its rusty hinges.

My big problem is there is absolutely no way it will fit into the room I have it earmarked for longer term. The only way would be to take out our window and put it through there. But has anyone any experience of that? I've tried googling it but come up with nothing. And who does it for you?!

Yes, I've done this to get a huuuuge sofa in my old teeny tiny house. Fortunately, I had a huuuuge window! You can remove the glass from a double glazed unit very easily from the inside (not the frame though).

I had a very kind friend who helped me out. It only took 2mins to remove and about 10 to replace. It needs to be levelled again with packers on the inside of the frame.

I'm sure a double glazing firm would do it for you relatively cheaply.

No but I sawed an Edwardian wardrobe in half to get it up the stairs last April.

Planned very carefully so once much of it was dismantled via old glued joints etc there were only the dovetails left intact, then I cut along close to a corner in one place.

Tricky but you'd never know now, so worth it. It did take time to minimise damage, ie taking off back panels etc. and labelling bits.

What have you bought? Good old ebay!
