Induction hobs - do they look scratched and battered after a while?

Looking at getting a new hob and have always used gas. The induction hobs look lovely and shiny (and I have pans with magnetic bases so don't need to get new ones), but my worry is that after a few months' use they will look all scratched and battered?

Also, the touch sensitive controls look hard to read on most - just thinking of when my mother wants to cook on there, her eyesight isn't great so whereas she can feel the knobs (oo-err, missus) on a gas cooker she'd have no chance on induction?

Yes they do scratch. I have a 12 year old Bosch induction and it's like new but my grandparents used LeCreuset and their's got very scratched.

I just realised I had mine for 9 years and it was unscratched all that time even with a clumsy, heavy handed ex husband.
I had to leave it behind when I sold the house as it was built in and the new house has a built in gas hob which I will change for induction as soon as possible.
The only thing is you have to use lightweight induction hob saucepans or all your food will burn.

We have an induction hob, before that we had a non-induction ceramic hob which was very well used over the 12 years we had it. Was a bit scratched but not horrendously so.

The absolute best thing for cleaning off wee marks is the Astonish hob cleaning paste from Home Bargains, sots about 69p and it's amazing stuff!
