Can I store baby items in garage?

There's some baby items I want to store in case we have a next child. The only place I can realistically store them is in the garage, which is going to be subject to temperature/humidity fluctuations etc.

If I put items like car seats and soft goods in Ikea plastic Samla boxes with lids, would this keep them sufficiently safe?

And if baby clothes are in vacuum seal bags inside plastic boxes, would that work?

Would it get mouldy?

Car seats can go out of date, might want to check that before you store.
As long as everything is clean and completely dry should be fine. Stains can get darker, even if you can't see them now but I'm sure you use stain remover when you get them back out again.

Thank you shookennotstirred. :)

It's a brand new one so hopefully it won't age in time for us having another, but we'll just have to wait and see!

Thank you. I was just worried about the general humidity that comes with a garage but if the boxes are sealed and stacked it should hopefully be protected from the worst of it!

Items like high chair and prams will go mouldy in garage. Clean and dry thoroughly and seal in plastic as best you can. Then clean thoroughly when you get them out again. Loft would be far better to store items in, then tend to be drier.

If you are sealing things up in plastic, maybe put some of those little moisture sachets that come in shoe boxes in with them.

Unfortunately we don't have a loft :( WillLokireturn

If there's things like fabric playmat, in plastic cover, in a plastic Ikea box clipped shut - does it stand a chance or should I just not risk it for fear of mould? Want to be extra safe since it's baby stuff of course.

Oh dear, if no loft, then all you can do is scrupilously clean, disinfect and DRY (very important, get that hairdryer out for drying nooks and crannies!) then seal up in plastic bag and shut in those plastic boxes you have or cover in plastic as best you can.
I just go from experience that items in garage where it can be humid, do go mouldy if not carefully stored. Maybe even get them out each 4 months to air and check Flowers

But if that is your only choice then you have to do that and vacuum pack/seal as best you can then wash clothes on hot wash, dry on line outside , and disinfect equipment, when they come out for re-use.

WillLokireturn Thank you Flowers am going to see if there’s any way I can store the most important stuff inside. It’s so hard because most baby stuff is super bulky but also inevitably covered in fabric and padding!

WillLokireturn whoops that was another account. No reason for two other than that I can never log in to the right one on my PC!

We put silica gel sachets in with items to draw out any moisture that gets in there (you can get them on amazon) . We only had one item go mildly moldy and that was because it was a soft cushion in a vacuum bag that failed. So you may want to periodically check stuff you are storing.
You need to keep car seats out of sunlight to store in best condition so if you can make sure they are in a dark bag or box. We stored ours stacked up in an old wardrobe in the garage.
We ended up with 8yrs between kids and ours was fine.
