Fully integrated dishwashers - do they have to go in a cabinet?

When you have a fully integrated dishwasher, do you have to put it inside a cabinet or can you use it just as it is? We got a free one with our MFI kitchen recently and I do need a dishwasher but I didn't want the extra expense of buying a cabinet to put it in. So I'd planned to sell the integrated one and use the money to buy a freestanding one.

I then thought maybe we could just use this integrated one but without a cabinet - but from the picture of it, it looks like you can't open the door of the dishwasher as there's no handle! So do you have to put a cabinet door on the front so that you can open it? Thanks!

yes it needs a door but not a cabinet..so not very expensive really

They don't have to be inside a cabinet but do have to be fixed to the neighbouring cabinet or the underside of the worktop. You would need to buy an extra door. Mine is fixed to a cabinet on one side and to the worktop. The door on them is usually counterbalanced to take the weight of the cupboard door and they 'tip' if not fixed.

Thanks, people! I take it that you can put it inside a cabinet if you want to? It's not only for use with a matching door?

not sure it would fit as it is the size of a cabinet isn't it?

They are usually a standard width - You just need a door, not a whole cabinet. Would be very ugly without the door though as it won't have a finish.
