Aerobed or folding/roll up mattress for guests

I hope Housekeeping is the right place for this. I am looking for recommendations for a single mattress I can use for guests as a floor mattress, but don't have storage for a proper mattress, so it needs to be inflatable or something that can fold or roll up. There seem to be lots and I've no idea what would be ok for the weight/size of an adult.

It's mainly for visiting nieces & nephews who are in their teens and 20s & probably used to sleeping on friends' floors, so doesn't have to be luxurious, but my nephew is coming for 3 weeks while he does work experience nearby, so I want something that is going to be reasonably comfortable for that length of time.

I am wondering about Aerobed or other posh air beds, but they seem to have mixed reviews on amazon, so maybe a folding foam block or futon type roll up mattress might be better. Any suggestions?

We have an aerobed for visitors (not the super-high one) which someone gave us. It's by far the best airbed we've had. Dead east to inflate/deflate, comfy and not noisy/squeaky. Can't comment on the alternatives, but both would take up more room as can't be stored away so easily.

We have a folding block of foam from the futon company. Not the kids' ones with the pillow bit/chair "back" on top - they are not so comfy as chairs, and I'd rather just have a block that looks a bit more grown up and we can use as a footstool etc. It has a separate cover and you can buy a mattress protector that fits.

Everyone in our family prefers it to airbeds. You know it won't deflate and it's more comfortable. It's a big snug for an adult man but it's ok for me.

I've slept on roll up futons and they suit me quite well but some people find them too hard.

PS I'm only comparing to normal airbeds, we haven't tried an aerobed.

Thank you both. The aerobed and the Futon Company cube both look good. Not sure which to go for. I'm a bit worried about the aerobed deflating or getting leaks, but it does sound comfortable. And the cube sounds good too.

Don't know about aerobed. But regular airbeds are not very comfortable for more than a couple of nights, and are prone to punctures. I've used a folding mattress cube from Argos, which is slightly more pricey, but comfortable and avoids the faff of inflating/deflating

We have a giant super high double aerobed and it's comfy, even for aged parents to sleep on for weeks on end, visiting Young Persons seem to sleep like logs on it. The one weird thing is that sometimes it needs topping up at bedtime (it stays out in the spare room when needed) and that sounds disconcertingly like late night hoovering. Also it needs an extra blanket on top of the mattress protector in winter or it's a bit chilly.

Aerobed has proved popular here - 70 year old mil has slept on it for over a week without complaint. Though as pp said it can be chilly without something between the mattress and sheets.
