Hi all,
I'm attempting to reduce the plastic and chemicals I use in my home! Has anybody got any recipes they would like to share? I would like to get some glass spray bottles and fill them with versions natural cleaning products, my Nan swore by white vinegar and water for a general cleaning spray for work tops ect!

To clean the bath I make a paste of castle liquid soap, bicarb and few drops of essential oil. This also works well on sinks.
For smells I mix bicarb, white vinegar and essential oil in a spray bottle. Excellent on rugs ans carpet when dc had been sick.
Worktops get scrubbed with hot soapy water...those blocks of marseille soap are lovely for thsi

Not homemade but I use koh cleaner in my home. Eco friendly, costs less than making my own. Works beautifully

I make air fresheners and surface cleaners and put them in amber glass spray bottles:

Air freshener - I use vodka to disperse the oil and then add water. We have one containing grapefruit essential oil and one containing peppermint essential oil. I prefer the peppermint. Can’t remember the ratios but google will have the answers.

Surface spray - I use method most of the time but when I just want a quick wipe over the kitchen surfaces (if they are not too grotty) I use a mix of grapefruit oil dispersed in white vinegar and then topped up with water. The smell of the vinegar disappears very quickly.

As an aside; another air freshener I use (not in a spray bottle) is just a bowl with essential oil mix in the bottom (usually geranium, lavender, bergamot and rosemary) and then pour over hot water from the kettle to vapourise the oil. The fragrance lasts a good day or more.

Also the same blend dropped onto cotton wool pads and placed in the drum of my Dyson, so that a nice smell is released every time I vacuum.

HTH 😊
