granite worktops - short integrated splashback

More kitchen questions from me....

If you have a granite work surface with a short integrated splashback, is this enough round the sink ? Or, if not what do you have there and over the cooker ??

Thanks !

As the sink is next to a window I have a taller splash back right up to the window sill, plus the window sill is also black granite with a slight overhang

Behind the cooker I have nothing
i don't really like tiles so have just painted with farrow & ball matte oil which is wipe clean

I've just had granite worktops with glass splashbacks and short granite uprights. Sink is at the window so is just granite window ledge. Glass looks amazing! Is it a modern kitchen?

Weasleybug · 18/07/2007 13:22

ah yes, most sinks are by windows aren't they.... hmmm.. not ours. But, I try not to do too much washing up if I can help it as most goes in dishwasher so hopefully wouldn't be a prob.

Was thinking maybe glass behind cooker - but the f&b paint is an idea. I would be probably using f&b generally in kitchen so that would be an idea. Thanks.

So can you have glass splashbacks and the little granite one at the same point ? I could just ask the kitchen bloke who is arriving in 10 mins but useful to hear proper people's views !

Kitchen is going to be modern-trad if that makes sense. We have a Victorian house so I don't want it too modern but I don't really go for twirly period things (I need to get rid of the faux farm house look we have at the mo.. not put in by us I hasten to add).

CD - was it the 'dead flat oil' or the new 'modern emulsion' ?

Yes we have 2 inches of granite uprights and then glass. Mind you, it does collect dust on top of the little granite ledge. Luckily cleaner is here now giving it all a polish!

dead flat oil I believe

Thanks CD and strawberry - very helpful. Think I am going to go with the ledge all round but with a glass splashback above the cooker.
