Hoover recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Hoover please, max budget £200.

We’ve got a carpeted 2 bedroom upstairs and stairs, plus would like run over laminate and ceiling corners etc. We don’t have any DC or pets. My DM is insistent that we need a Duson but it seems excessive for our needs.

This thread is a bit old now, so if you've landed here looking for recommendations, we have recently updated our guide to the best vacuum cleaners as tried and tested by the Mumsnet team. We hope you find it useful.

We were looking at Shark Rocket HV330UK but reviews seem mixed, does anyone have any experiences?

I ve got a shark liftaway (on a cable, not battery). It works very well. I went from an old dyson to it and its much quieter and lighter and cleans better. It's got useful features such as the roller can be removed for cleaning, rather than fiddling about removing the long hairs etc while its still attached to the machine. Also, you can easily lower the suction when you want to vacuum a mat, or dog bed and don't want the whole thing to disappear up the tube!
Only down side is when using the wand, the whole thing topples over very easily, but i guess you're supposed to liftaway each time and hold the removeable part in your other hand.

We have a Shark Liftaway TruePet. It's fantastic and I will never go back to a Dyson. As a PP says it can tip when using the wand but you just have to use the Liftaway. It never loses suction which always happened with my Dysons.

Henry - they are fantastic- I would t go back to dyson now. I can hoover ANYTHING with this hoover I don’t have to worry about ruining it- Cheerios, flour, cement dust. It’s briliant for skirting boards and blinds with the brush attachment and super long handle. Gets under beds and furniture easily. We had ours all through building work and 5 years on its still going like new. Think we paid 90 quid.
