Hand held hooover for fireplace?

We've installed a wood burner and there's inevitably some ash and bits off the wood making a mess.
Can anyone recommend a hand held vacuum to quickly clear it up?

Don’t do it. Dustpan and brush made for fireplaces (metal).

We have one of these and it is a godsend!

Also use it for sucking up DIY debris too - wouldn't be without it.

Well worth the money and far less mess than sweeping out wood burners/fireplaces by hand.

Nooooo!!! Ruined our dyson doing this. It’s stuffs the filters and the motor! I now use a dustpan and have a dedicated cloth that I rise and squeeze well and wipe the hearth with once a week.

Exactly what l'm saying - this is specifically for wood burners. Would never use a regular vacuum cleaner!

Ash hoover all the way. The filters in normal hand helds can’t cope with the debris.

Aldi do a cheap version - don't get one of those, it's useless. I'd love to get a proper one - there are loads on amazon, who knew Grin - but nowhere to put it.

I do use my normal vac just to pick up the fine layer of dust left after sweeping out with brush & pan.

I did mean just to tidy up the dusty bits after I've swept it out but it seems even that might be too fine, I'm off to Amazon
